In the far away land of Sugaria, where peppermint princes, knights in shining chocolate and other sugary delights delve, three girls one day encounter mysterious magical objects in the enchanted forests of Strawberry, Vanilla, and Chocolate woods. Decide their fate and destiny as they venture throughout the vast lands of Sugaria.

Skights is an english otome visual novel series on Joilly.com! :D
Each episode takes around 20-35 minutes long~

This is an episodic VN series, so the episodes are divided into paths.
For example, in the second episode/chapter, there's path A or path B. The previous episode/chapter's ending scenes will lead you to either path A or B depending on how you played/ended with chapter 1.

The latest episode is Cassandra's POV, and there's two love interests available you can start branching off the story!

The episode was great! :D I really loved it :D
But I have few comments...
For example the backgrounds like the strawberry background or the vanilla background, they are too bright for my eyes to handle xD My eyes hurt a little bit because of those bright colours.
Also I had problems tracking who am I in the game, changing between the three characters without a warning made me all messed up a little bit.
Other than those two points, the game is totally awesome! The idea and characters and art and everything <3 Keep up the good work ^^

Not ridiculously pink enough. 0/10.

Great introduction to the series - I am in love with the style and yes - especially the pink!

I loved it! Hahaha. It was awesome. The effects were super dazzling as well. :3
My favorite character is Nessie, so far. :) I don't like Sam very much though. Hahaha. But as a character, she's alright... haha. They're all alright. I'm saddened by what happened to Charles. :(

I wasn't confused by the characters at all, but I can see how they could get pretty confusing. The frequent transitions near the end hurt my eyes too. Hahahaha. There must be another way to show all three perpectives without making the game confusing... *sigh* Ah, also, another thing that irked me was the... overuse of ellipsis! Hahahaha. They were pretty distracting. :3

Anyway, awesome game! Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to episode 2. Haha. Goodluck with this! I'm sure it's gonna be even more amazing~

Thanks for all the helpful comments guys!

Yes, this otome game is a bit different compared to the other more normal ones (wanted to try somethin' a lil different), but I don't want to spoil too much! It won't switch from the three MCs POVs so much like this episode, this is the only time and exception.

I'll come out with episode 2 soon, hopefully by next Sunday/Monday! :)

*cough* I'll definitely work on the pinkness *cough*

Hmm, the pinkness is not super bad, I think. Hahaha. Maybe just switch from hot pink, to a softer variety?

Other than that, there's nothing wrong with it at all. At first I thought, "It's so... pink." But when I got to the Vanilla lands, I realized that you just use the colors as the themes. I actually find it cute that the Strawberry Lands are pink, the Vanilla lands are a pale yellow, and that the Chocolate kingdom is brown. :D

If I hadn't played through the whole thing, the pinkness may have bothered me. Nevertheless, I still think the color scheme is cute. :D

I just finished playing and I have to say I very much enjoyed the first chapter. Although it didn't delve much into main plot, I thought that the three main characters were excellently introduced. It made me want to continue reading and the mystery surrounding them makes me really anxious for the next chapter. I have to say my favorite character so far was the chocolate heroine. Although I thought strawberry heroine was interesting, compared to the other girls I don't think she was as expanded upon in this chapter. Of course since it's only the first chapter this will probably be addressed in the the subsequent installments. Anyways! Good luck finishing the other chapters!

I very much enjoyed the visuals of this game, although I'll echo what others have said about the color palette being too bright. While I liked the visuals, I found that the story itself became difficult for me to get through because it hit a few of my pet peeves in writing. I'll be constructive here because I think you have an interesting story and I would like to see it become stronger in the next installment! I'll give my feedback without spoiling too much.
1) There were several moments where the dialogue matched the narration. It didn't make sense to have a character tell us a fact and have the MC repeat it through internal narration. For example, when Colin is first introduced, the MC and Colin engage in a conversation about their friendship since childhood, the MC's role as Colin's father's ward, and Colin's father. Right after that dialogue, the MC repeats the same information through internal monologue. The first few times were fine, but it began to get overwhelming as the pattern continued. I feel as though it should be one of the two things: a) we find out info through dialogue, or b) we find out the info through internal monologue. Having both is redundant - I feel as though you should pick one during various scenes in the game. Mixing them up occasionally works too.

2) This brings me to exposition. I think it could have been handled better, in the "show, don't tell" fashion? When the second MC was introduced (in the Vanilla area of the kingdom; I apologize, I forget her name) , she points out to Colin everything mentioned previously (childhood friendship, relation to his father, etc.) Colin would know all of this already, so it becomes odd to point this out. If you think about how the conversation would play in reality, I think it would help in tightening the exposition. The same goes for when Cassandra declared her title and father's title to her own governess, who would already know that. I understand the audience does not know that, but I believe it can be displayed through events and actions.

3) The amount of sympathy held toward a character without much backstory or reference. The second MC dotes on how she is (and I'll paraphrase): ugly, dim-witted, and could never be liked by Colin (in the romantic sense). But...it makes it hard for me to sympathize for her when there has been nothing to confirm those claims. No one in the city has made a remark about the MC's appearance nor has the MC looked into a mirror to contemplate her looks. The MC also seems somewhat intelligent through her monologues, and Colin seems to like her. So the MC's claims seem to be contradicting what the audience is reading. Now, it can be argued that the reasons behind her low-self esteem will be revealed later in the game, but for the MC to make such claims early on in the story doesn't make me feel sad for her. Again, this falls along the "show, don't tell" rule. I don't think the difference-in-class argument is a strong enough excuse, because the MC and Colin talk to one another without any indication that their class divides them.
Again, I'm giving this feedback because I really believe this story can make a splash. Since this is the pilot/episode 1, I can see the future episodes being better and better with each step.

I just have finished it and I really liked it! I think the artstyle is super cute and I like how the music and sounds fit with the story. Nice plot, full of misteries and now I only want to know the rest of the story!
I only have to say that the strange movement that characters do when they're talking was making me pretty nervous. Well, that effect fits perfect when they need to do a reverence or something like that, but I think it's excessive that they do that all the time they're talking.
Keep up this! I really liked it and loved the fact that it's online. Makes it easier to everybody.

Oh, I really didn't think of that. I'll definitely tone down on the character movements on next episode then. D:

And yeah, I thought online visual novels would be SO much more convenient that downloading a whole package and having to make sure it works on windows, mac, all that jazz. Glad you guys found it more convenient!

I loved Cafe Rogue (even though it was hard for me to get the ending I want), but I couldn't seem to finish this episode because there's no option to turn the music off... I wanted to watch a video, so I had to close out of the game to play it. I didn't mind the pinkness, though. The story seems interesting and cute and I'll play more of it later, but so far, a sound toggle button is really what I'd like this game to have.
