Edit: I have now added a Load button to the quick menu. Don't know why it's not already in default. O.o
Note: If everyone is still confused with the save/load menu, let me know asap and I'll change it back to the default menu to make it easier to keep track.
Their parents going out for the night for a group meeting then dinner, Henry is tasked with telling his three little sisters...a bedtime story. Yup, that's all to it. Dinner was taken care of via pizza and soda and had ice cream for dessert. They already naturally shower and brush their teeth, afraid to end up like the man living in the smelly house on the corner.

But that's not what Henry has to worry about. Nope. He just needs to find a book-oh wait those got donated to charity. Shouldn't be too hard to just make one up. Right?
Characters

Henry: The no spine pathetic teenage boy you play as. Watch as he gets walked over and bossed around, aggravated as he does nothing. (He doesn't spoil them, nope. He doesn't spoil them one bit, not in denial either.) Many times he wonders if they are aliens or robots.
Image
Samantha: The so called sweet and innocent one, according to the parents. Into fairy tales, happy endings, and all things magical. Also likes anything pretty, her definition of pretty varies from subject to subject. Can't stand it if a good guy or innocent gets hurt or killed. Believes all robots are evil.
Image
Kathy: Got so tired of her classmate pulling on her right pigtail that she chopped it off. She only has the left one intact on purpose to mess with his mind, or so she says. A typical tomboy, doesn't think that much unless it involves certain subjects. She isn't stupid, just not interested.
Image
Rhonda: Believes herself to be a proper young lady, turning up her nose at anything that she deems unworthy of her. Usually gets upset if things don't go her way, but is willing to make compromises. Thinks she's smarter than Henry and interrupts all the time. Surprisingly the most honest of the three despite her blackmailing nature.
Uploading this now just in case I forget since dealing with real life troubles. I expect you guys to stare blankly at the monitor sometimes, going "What?". Warning you now that all of this, is the very first draft to make it more believable for a first time storyteller. It's one thing to read from a book, but it's another when you have to speak out loud to a group of children without a script while making sure you keep eye contact with them among other things. Can you spot all the references? =P Have "fun"!
Note: Won't be adding screenshots until puush is fully safe. At the moment there's still possibly malware from the latest update.

oh my goodness, congrats on finishing the game!!! (Although you've been done for a while I mean, haha.) I'm bookmarking this for when I'm done and free to try it out. I'll be back with my thoughts!

I GOT THE BORING END. Then I got the laser end. Then Samantha's confession end. How many ends are there?

"I wanted to make sure he wasn't making it more child-friendly." I laughed at this. Smart child.
"They always say Houston. What's a Houston?" I laughed AGAIN
"I gave them cookies and cream. That's their second fav. There's no way I'm spoiling them." omg
Your humour is so quirky. I quite enjoyed it. I think I'll play through and see what other ends I can get.

*laughing* Glad you're enjoying it so far. (Wasn't sure if it would be good, haha) There's 23 endings total, all in the endings list. There are 4 best endings, a few good and so so endings, and the rest are bad, depending on your definition of bad. Samantha's is one of the best endings. ^^ Each girl has their own, than there's the best one overall. You don't have to force yourself to play all of it.

(I'll be playing yours either after dinner or tomorrow when I wake up! Was busy trying to fix the desktop.)

This is super cute! I've only got a couple endings so far, but the character interactions feel realistic, and I'm liking your art style for the story segments.

Minor criticism: the save/load menu is messed up. If you access the save menu during the game, all the save slots have the "locked" graphic, even if they're empty. Also, there's no way to access the "load" menu during the game except by going into the "preferences" menu first.

Thank you! Glad the art suits their imagination and the way they act is believable.

I am confused about the save menu though. I tried it out just now and it saved fine, and it also worked for my tester. I'm going to see if making separate builds for the computers will work. They're still uploading to dropbox right now, but I will be updating the download link sometime today. I also added a load button to the quick menu. (Funny that it took me til now to realize there wasn't one.)

If you still have trouble saving, let me know and I'll just change it back to renpy's default since I technically have til the end of today/beginning of tomorrow.

No, I'm not having trouble with the save function; just the design of the save/load menus are messed up.
ss1.jpg
^ The load menu, when accessed from the main menu screen, looks like this. Lock graphics for the taken save slots, blank for the unused save slots.
ss4.jpg
^ But the save menu, when accessed in-game, looks like this: all lock graphics, for both used and unused save slots. The save function works just fine, but it's slightly confusing trying to see which save slots are empty or not.
ss2.jpg
^ There's no "load" option in the quick menu below the text box, only "save" (and quick load/quick save). You can only access the load menu by going into the preferences screen.
ss3.jpg
Again, you can load just fine. It's just that having to hunt around for the load menu is bad interface design, particularly when a game has this many choices and players probably won't want to restart from the beginning each time.

Aaahhhh. I see now. Actually, those are all open. The ones with save files have the dates. The ones that don't have any save files, say Empty Slot. You can still click them to save and such. Sorry for the confusion, this being my first vn. I haven't changed the download link yet, dropbox is STILL uploading them. It'll be version 1.2 (but haven't figured out how to change the name yet, so when you extract it'll still be called 1.0) It'll be uploaded in maybe 15 minutes or so.

I will remember what you said though for future games to avoid confusion in the future. I had tried to keep screenshots, but they just wouldn't fit.

Edit: Okay I just uploaded the newest version. There's a Load button now. ^^

Thank you!

I found another minor bug (unless you've already fixed it in the new version): the Super Shorter Laser ending doesn't show up on the ending list.

But I did get all the endings now :D

You're welcome! ^^

Gah, just checked it, it's the only ending I forgot to add persistent to. Thanks for letting me know!

Hope you enjoyed all of them! Makes me giddy inside knowing someone got all the endings. ^^ Will be adding ANOTHER version within probably an hour or so for future downloaders. Hahaha.

Ohhh my bad, I didn't see the endings/gallery. I played through somemore, and
Omg the hints about Molly is so dark. I can't believe her own siblings would do that to her. They've crossed the line into abusive, and I like that Henry stepped up and turned from pushover brother to dependable older brother. I really liked the line when they said there was only one of him and three of them, and he couldn't protect all of them at once. I don't know, I like protective brothers, so I went "aww....". Molly's stark contrast makes Henry's sisters look so lucky in comparison. At least the worst he does is give them their second favourite ice cream.
I am also impressed at the sheer volume of changing CGs you had of the story. The story can take off in so many ways, lol. All that effort, and you finished so fast! Good job!!

Don't worry about it, the best hiding spot is in plain sight after all! (Family would be looking for the phone, when it's standing up straight on the counter. We'd facepalm so much.)
When I first wrote Molly's ending, it was originally going to be Samantha's. However, it didn't feel right to me at all. Just because she shouted randomly what happened, doesn't make it a "good ending". That sort of situation you'd want to find out when they tell you personally. It hurts not to be trusted if someone believes that you'd make things worse or be unable to help. Yes, it's a serious problem that can't be solved easily. But looking away keeping silent doesn't help either, which is why you're not "rewarded" and get a "normal" type of ending.
In the beginning, it was originally going to be happy go lucky with a touch of silly. But as you know, if you let the characters be themselves, you never know what'll pop up. And it comes out as a sort of "comparison" in a way. There are families where siblings are close, closer than even their boyfriend/girlfriend. It's a bond no one can break, and one people should always cherish. Then...there's the "families" where children fear returning home. (I unfortunately know a couple people too, and I don't even know a quarter of what happened to them.) of I tried not to go too deep into Molly's life, because the nano is about Henry and his sisters. Just like in your nano, there were scenes of the abuse, but you didn't go full out and show EVERYTHING that happened to them. Those few scenes were enough for the readers to see, nothing more was needed.
Thanks! I devoted many hours to make all those tiny changes, duplicating the bases of the astronauts and such so I could edit them and move them around as much as I pleased so I never had to remake them. For some scenes I cheated by going to normal bedroom, ahaha. Glad you enjoyed my nano! ^^

This looks really fun; I used to come up with bedtime stories for my younger cousins so this brings back serious memories. ^.^ Downloading!

Thank you Sunlit-Dreamer, your game is really enjoyable. I played until I got all the endings. ^^

Same for me.
Well... my brothers were happy when I mercilessly killed some characters. :D I had a more forgiving audience.
Henry is a patient and kind older brother.
