Many know that Shinpachi and Yamazaki from Hakuoki don't have routes and IDEA FACTORY has released mini games with these characters, but we wanted something more.

That's where Fest-off comes in, a non-profit fan-made linear game by two fans. You attend a festival celebration with your choice of Shinpachi or Yamazaki and have fun plus fluffy moments that are written true to the characters from the game.

Shinpachi and Yamazaki have three scenes total and there are no bad endings.

Image
Main

Chizuru Yukimura (MC) - You, the player. You will be able to customize whatever name you wish.

Shinpachi Nagakura - Second division captain of the Shinsengumi. He flexes his muscles showing off his figure when given the chance and loves sake. A lot.

Susumu Yamazaki - The intelligence officer and medic of the Shinsengumi. Seems aloof but very gentle and passionate about his work.

Cameos
Chikage Kazama - The clan head of the Oni in the West.

Camy - Shinpachi's route writer, logo, and header graphics.
Goblin Maiden - Yamazaki's route writer, coding, and editor.

We decided that the GUI will just be one of the defaults due to little time we had left.
Backgrounds and Sprites used are from the official game. Again, this is fan-made and NOT for profit.

OHHH MY GOSHHH!!
You have no idea how frustrated I was that Yamazaki (who was, by the way, my favourite character) didn't get a route in the localised games... but finally... a light in the dark tunnel.
Downloading right now and will get back to you!

I thoroughly enjoyed the 3DS port of Hakuoki so this is up my alley. I'll read it later!

Congrats on making deadline! 8D

Yep, Yamazaki was the one I really hoped a lot that he could get a route in the future, compared to the other non-playable characters. But, I did hope for Shinpachi and Sannan-san, too. I'll try this and let you know what I think about it.

Think of it as a parallel universe~ x3 Yes, Shinpachi doesn't has a route, I was looking forward to it after my first run through since he was so hilarious.

I've always wanted to play a route with these two, so I'm really happy.
I thought the writing was quite in-character. I quite enjoyed both routes actually! Shinpachi was so silly, I smiled. I thought it was cute that he confessed to her. Yamazaki was great too! I liked how thoughtful he was about the prize he wanted to give her.

Read it over, good stuff. Little disappointed with lack of sound but that isn't a dealbreaker. Maybe the festival could've tied into some kind of researched historical event, I like Hakuoki a lot cuz it incorporates historical events in its writing.

I liked how Yamazaki was characterized for the most part and preferred his route. Shinpachi's route was a bit more awkward in terms of dialogue and build-up, though it captured his showoff mannerisms well.

Pretty good!

Hey, thanks for your feedback, TuttyTheFruity! :) We wanted to incorporate sound too, but time was not on our side so that had to get scrapped. XD;; Likewise for the historical research--though I totally agree, that would have been a really cool touch to have been able to incorporate.

Thanks as well for your comments about the characterizations. :) We're already talking about the "what ifs" of what to add/improve on should we ever decide to expand on it, so that's helpful to know.
