I like the story plot. Can't help but remind me of the manga Screaming Lessons: Bloody Valentines chapter. In the end, it surprises you that the main character is actually the bad person. Although I got a hint when I made the MC lie on the bed beside Darien's bed. It said "Mariko's bed", not "My bed". So I got a little hint that maybe she isn't Mariko.
All of it made clear to me when the MC stabs Mariko for the first time... While pieces of flashback from the words in the Darien's letter. Then she flashes that creepy smile. That kind of freaked me out
BTW, I got first the normal end, which I think was the happy ending. For Mariko, that is. Then the bad ending. I got killed. That was certainly bad. And then the True ending, which was worse than the bad ending. I was a little bit scared with the time watch. And the MC was so slow in walking , so I quickly hid, resulting to the bad ending. After paying attention to some things in the kitchen, I knew what to do.
I just don't get why Mariko would knock on her own house, though... I think the footsteps would be fine alone.
Anyway, this is a great game! I love story plots that has crazy, unexpected twist. I love how the game interacts with players, more than your simple visual novel, since Dear Mariko gives you that RPG feeling. Though you should warn some players. I was getting insane about clicking the start button with the mouse... Since I thought it was a simple VN. Then I pressed Enter and it worked out fine. Was this made using renpy? Or with an RPG software? Curious. I'm tempted to try making something like this.
And can I make a blog post about this on my WordPress? I'll share this thread's link, too.

It would be polite of you to mention that your game is for Windows only, so that those of us who do not use that platform don't waste our time downloading a game that we cannot view!

Thanks for this neat little game! It shows just how much you can convey in a short time with effective art, pacing, and sound effects. I had to come back to the forum for an explanation of the ending, but now I get it! ::feels somewhat dim::
One of my early strategies was to read books until I got to RE: Prince of Nigeria.
(I thought the main character might start thinking about relationships that are not what they appear to be. )
Played this game days ago and I enjoyed it, specially the RPG movements. The story turn out to be such a twist and it really scared me to death (。•́︿•̀。)
I was wondering where the horror was. I kept on getting the normal ending! Oh man...well, I was going to comment that the one girl was pretty, but after the true ending, I can just say Mariko is very pretty.
..........Good game! Took a while to figure out how to get the ending. Of course I had to get the bad ending first...and then again after realizing that I still had to
hide in the bathroom (just with the knife this time)
