U.S.G.: A New Beginning

#1 Post by Jake »

Nothing to do with me - but I came across this on another forum:

http://www.shmup-dev.com/forum/index.php?topic=1519.0

- It's another shooter hybrid, this time made in RPGMaker XP; the author calls it an RPG/Shmup, although to you and I the 'RPG' parts are pretty much 'VN' parts... ;-)

Thanks to NaNo responsibilities I've not had time to go through and play much more than the first mission, but at the very least most of the graphics are lovely. Its approach to dealing with the pace disconnect between VN and shooting parts seems to be to have an energetic intro to the shooting scenes, and connect the two by littering the shooting with voice interjections from your partner, which I thought worked pretty well when I could hear them over the music.

This looks really good (and yeah, totally Go Nagai style XD). I'll have to try it someday :)
