As for other comments that I can't really just leave out in the open in the review (cause, seriously, why? These are for you guys, not for random readers/players...):
- I think you can use images instead of a centered text box for the opening sequence where there's a monologue on black background. That way, the in-game menu won't be distracting. (It distracted me lol.)
- Speaking of images... If it's possible, you could use CGs to highlight moments that can't be shown properly via BGs and sprites. It's up to you which those are, though... You're the storytellers.
- I don't think you need to show the characters zipping through screens, rushing to wherever they need to go. You could just transition to the next important scene. If you feel that the rushing is important, you could use CGs, sprites in a running position, or even narration.
- With the scenes in class, you could use narration instead of dots to show that time is passing. Like, have Sakura describe what is going on in class (show people what Sakura finds interesting in class, etc.), what she is thinking (about having lunch at the rooftop or the situation or whatever), etc. I thought at first that someone is thinking and then someone's going to say something. Apparently, I was wrong.
- Last but not the least, there are a few typos/spelling errors/grammatical errors. You might want to have someone outside of your group proofread it for you.
