--------THE STORY--------
// D-DAY.
You're a murderer.

// 1 DAY PRIOR.
You can’t trust anyone. You lose your mind.

// 3 DAYS PRIOR.
Someone dies before your eyes. Your friends distance themselves from you.

// 4 DAYS PRIOR.
Your school enforces a curfew. You nearly drown. Your past catches up to you.

// 6 DAYS PRIOR.
You learn that students at your school have been disappearing into nothingness. You visit an amusement park with a bunch of friends anyway.

// 8 DAYS PRIOR.
You take a history exam. Maybe you pass, maybe you fail. Then you participate in a treasure hunt in the sketchiest part of the city. Thankfully, nothing happens. Or maybe something does.

// 9 DAYS PRIOR.
You visit a career fair to review your options. Doesn't seem like there is a bright future ahead of you. You also meet a crazy woman with a vocabulary larger than her height who claims to be a detective.

// 10 DAYS PRIOR.
You immerse yourself in classes, friends, and an everyday routine. You eat copious amounts of fried chicken and are press-ganged into advertising for a club you're not even in. This is where the game begins.

// THE THING IS:
You can choose to fight this outcome.

Hellooooo, graphic design.
This looks really classy.
Can't use Steam, but will be very much looking forward to the itch.io version.
The promotional images are very good looking, it caught my eye instantly.

No Linux version? That makes me a sad dev.
Is there some functionality you weren't able to get working on Linux? Or is it just that you had nobody to test?
I looked through the linked thread and FAQs, but didn't see any mention.

We didn't have anyone to test a linux version unfortunately :/
We'll probably try to upload one at some point though. Windows and Mac were just our priorities for the moment.

I could take a look through the code, if you'd like.
Chances are it'll already work just fine, unless you're doing something platform-specific in Python. But if it's working on OSX, I doubt it'll have any trouble running on Linux.

That would actually be a great help! We just need someone to test our build on Linux to be on the safe side, even though in theory there shouldn't be any issues, you never know.

I really enjoyed it for a while.

All the characters are likable, including the joke characters. (Had you written an otome, I would be genuinely aiming for Masato :D)
Even Yama, who seems quite unsufferable at the beginning becomes a lot nicer when we get to know him better. He's not so pretentious, he's just been mopey a lot. (apparently with good reason?)
The girls seem real, relatable characters, not just, you know, stock tropes. (Masato not being an option, I'm aiming for Elizabeth.)

Also I like GOVER MECHER a lot more than I should. I blame the catchy theme song.

I had already mentioned I liked the promotional images, and now I'm adding the GUI and general look of the game. This is very pretty to look at. Nice backgrounds!
I'm really intrigued and would like to know how exactly Yama will get involved in the deep, deep troubles hinted at the beginning.

BUT!
You lost me at the petri dish riddle.
I freely admit to being an idiot, a simple minded noob in it for the stories. I see numbers and I freeze. I hate math. I won't do it.
I guess I'll wait until someone releases a walkthrough -_-

Yes, okay, you made me read it.

Great job done here, seriously. I'm not talking about design - it's awesome and been told before.
As for characters:
Akira ze Hurricane one love.
Surely like Rui.
Sort of can understand Liz.
Sort of can stand Airi.
Not going to forgive Misaki at all. Not yet, I guess.
Absolutely, undescribeably I do hate Shigure. Yes, she's a solid character, as everyone else, no problems here. I just hate her for the way she is. And well, after everything that happened, I still do hate her.
May I just load her into 16" naval gun and fire her 'stead of SAP round, please?
And besides that, since I'm reading non-Steam version - can we have the achievements popups? I mean, yes, Steam has those, but what if I don't want Steam? For real, I found out that I got two achievements unlocked already only by checking the Extras.

Also the amount of bad-endings there is just impressive. I'm not even sure how to handle them all.
Really, I had to mess into the code to understand what exactly I have to do / what was I doing wrong. Basically, I'd find that by the bruteforce method, but the choises required are sort of inobvious. Yeah, sorry, I'm a terrible person.
Also - do I understand correctly that Lucid9 in it's current shape is like "common + parts of Rui route"? Or Rui is supposed to be near all the time? I mean, okay, but that's a bit of too much of Rui around for me since I prefer Akira...
Also is the what-happens-with-Rui avoidable - I mean, will it be avoidable later or her fate is sealed?
But oh well, whatever, questions. Now waiting for this story to be continued.
Best of luck!

Hi everyone!

It's been quite a while since any of us posted on this thread. To be honest, I had actually forgotten it existed. I'm unsure if many people still visit here, but I felt I should post a quick update about the project.

It's been almost four years now, and if you haven't been following our official blog or social media accounts, you might be surprised to hear that Lucid9 hasn't died yet. Since the release of Inciting Incident back in 2016, we've been working on finishing the heroine routes. A lot has happened since then--far too much to write here--but in short: members had come and gone, and some time after the Steam release we faced quite a big hurdle that almost ended the project. Somehow we managed to get through it. Four years, and we're nearly finished with development. Much of the scripts have been written, and almost all of the assets have been uploaded with the exception of CGs and such, which we're planning to do last. I'll share some of our progress below.

One important thing that I also wanted to mention concerns the recent update to the game. Some months ago, we released what we like to call the Heroine Prologues. To access them, all you need to do is to finish Inciting Incident and receive the Steam Achievement (if you've downloaded the game on itch.io, there should be a separate file to download). A new button labeled "Undo" should appear in the main menu.

The heroine prologues are prologues to the heroine routes. Obviously. They're told from the heroines' perspective, and should take about two hours to read. You can find more info here at our blog if you want to know more before playing: http://lucid9.weebly.com/blog/of-voices-and-prologues

We hope you enjoy the short taste of what's to come. Do let us know your thoughts on the new content. If you have any further questions about our progress and what we've been up to, don't hesitate to ask. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for comments.

For now, au revoir
