"Hello? This is...this is the suicidal hotline, yes?"

Uh-oh, wrong number. But you may not want to tell that to the man on the other side of the phone. How will you defuse this suicidal crisis? Oh, and better be careful not to tell him you love him.

As a horror game for the 2016 Asylum Jam, you can expect things to turn out twisted more often than not...

Are you sure you want to take that risk?

All right. I think that's everything. Now, I can finally play catch up with my messages and check out both Mammon's game and Amiralo's sim! And, not to mention, set up the thread for a very special Christmas activity. (Katta should know what I'm talking about! ;)) But I digress.

I love you, darlings.

P.S. Here's the walkthrough, written lovingly for you. :)

If you want to find out the main guy's real name and see his true face,
please keep an eye out for Beauty and the War (X Playing Pieces).

He'll be in it...

First of all, can I just say that you created the kind of dark otome game that I love and would like to see more of? It's just really messed up and unhealthy in all the right ways and i luv it. (someone really needs to get help)
But wow. Way to guilt trip someone into a relationship. It's also really interesting that i never really got to learn suicidal boy's name. Judging by his blonde hair, is he from the hulder clan? It would explain his weird talk about eating me in ending 3 lmao. The ending bit where he monologues his love for you is also a nice touch. It successfully summoned goosebumps haha. And not the kind caused by sexiness.

(I got ending 3, ending 5, ending 1(? the one where you call the police), and ending 7) What are they other ends? Will you release a walkthrough soon?

(expect fanart sometime soon. will send it to you on twitter)

Hey, Amiralo! Having made this in such a tight time frame, I'm really glad it managed to hit the right note with you. (Believe me. I would have wanted to extend certain scenes, but the clock was ticking!) As for whether he's from the Hulder clan...maaaaybe. :) (But I'm happy you noticed that blonde hair is a Hulder trait. Though, they certainly aren't the only clan with that hair color!)

Oh, I was incredibly happy with how the voice actors delivered those monologues. I just told them to say a bunch of sweet words and sprinkle in French, and they totally delivered. Which voice did you go with at first? And which was your favorite?

I'll definitely cook up a quick walkthrough! I'll probably post it up on tumblr some time after I get dinner.

And I'm so looking forward to seeing your fanart! They're always awesome.

Hello. First off, what an amazing game. Just like Amiralo said, it was such a good dark otome game (those are rare!) that hit that perfect I want to love the characters but also this relationship is kind of unhealthy and I'm scared but also intrigue?

The voice acting was on point so please give my love to your two voice actors. The one I tended towards was the cool and alluring, but the fun and charming voice kind of made me want to protect him? Like just give him a blanket to huddle under and a big ol' hug kind of feeling. Needless to say, I loved both voices. And that ending monologue, it was really sweet but it also made me kind of uncomfortable considering the situation. It really gave off that yandere feel.

As for the story itself. I admit I was a little skeptical considering the topic, but I'm glad to say I was so wrong. It's a short game, but every answer I gave actually felt like it had impact and I kind of felt panic and anxiety to choose the right answer. The first ending I got was the Out of Breath one and I was pretty sad? Devastated? heart-broken? that he died. Like it felt like I failed a real person. And man the option to go to his house and meet him, all it screamed was 'I'm going to die' but also 'I don't want him to kill himself' so there's a lot of internal conflict there.

I mean, there's a lot of feelings for me right now and I don't want this to get any longer than it seems to be getting just know that if this was going to be a 'full' game I would buy it in a heartbeat. The only bad things I could really see was that 1) that opening screen with the noise of the phone vibrating is annoying, but I expect that was done on purpose. 2) sometimes when I skip through seen text the game kinda spazzes out and sometimes texts and options repeat itself 3) For the cool and sauve voice when you go to his house, the voice seems really faint and its hard to hear the ending monologue. Also I voted for you in the game jolt thingy, so fingers cross you win!

Hint for endings: Sometimes you just have to let the timer run out of time

I don't know how you do it! I became so invested in the story and the character(s). I kept getting the
"I can't breathe" ending
>< The writing was superb (I've never used that word in my life lol) It was dark and messed up, but it kept me on the edge of my seat. Even though it was messed up I am very happy with the endings I got! :D
P.s. You keep blowing my mind lol

Hi, aurumcelest! Oh, I'll definitely give your love to the voice actors. Half of the time, I just want to gush to them about how awesome they're doing, but I'll have to, like, rein my enthusiasm in, so it doesn't ruin their image of me as some cool director. (And I'm going to be so embarrassed if they pass by and read that.)

At any rate, I'm really so happy to hear you've enjoyed it - and thank you so much for voting! We definitely need the support. And agh, I thought there would be some bugs! I didn't have time to do a thorough beta-testing there, so this is helpful. Those are things I absolutely have to fix.

Hi, PuffBun! Aww, thank you so much. It really means a lot to me to hear such encouraging words.

I honestly want to give my appreciation to all of you who has played it, voted, and generally supported me. I didn't expect such a positive reaction, so it's a pleasant surprise.

Oh, and here's the walkthrough for it. I hope it helps! :) Let me know if you like the tone of it, too. (And as aurumcelest said, letting time run out is indeed the key to getting certain endings. ;))

So, I first saw this via Markiplier playing it and it looked super interesting.
(Spent a few seconds looking at the GUI and going "Is it? Is it? That's a lot of customization, love it.")
I'll download it tomorrow and give it a playthrough. OuOb

I was planning to play this game tomorrow and then I saw a lets play of it appear in my subscriptions. Well done getting such a high ranking in the Asylum jam and the fame that comes with it!

I liked the idea and the realistic horror of someone calling the wrong number and you ending up in a bad situation this way. I would have preferred if the suicide was a bit more fleshed out, that I actually got to know this guy before picking the option that I loved him to advance, but I do like the sudden psycho guy confrontation as well. I do wonder how the voice was killing himself though, I imagine that he was sitting in his garage with the car running and decided to call the suicide hotline in a moment of doubt as he was starting to suffocate. I'm not sure though.

Anyway, nice game and well done making a project like this in such a short period of time! I'm impressed!

All righty then! This was 100% not okay but in the best way possible. Now every time the phone rings with an unknown number, I'm going to be terrified to pick up.

I really wish there had been some way to save this deeply disturbed character other than staying with him for the rest of your life, but that kinda would have ruined the whole game. It was lots of fun finding all the different dialogue paths just to see what he would say. And can I just say that the "fun and charming" voice was super adorable until he got all creepy? Finally, just out of curiosity, were the voice actors actually French?

Anyway, thank you for an entertaining and terrifying experience!

Hi, kisa! Thanks for downloading the game. I hope you enjoy it! I'd love to hear what you think.

I'm glad you like the GUI. Since there was a deadline on the game jam, I just decided to go with the simplest thing I knew how to do. I was a little worried about the result, so it's always a relief to hear that it turned out all right.

Hi, Mammon! Aww, thanks. It feels a little strange to think of it as famous, though. (But my voice actors definitely deserve it! They were great.)

I definitely would have liked to elaborate a few things, too. This was essentially my game plan for the jam in a nutshell: write the script directly into Ren'Py and let the chips fall where they may. So, this is pretty much a first draft (not counting how many times I went over it in my head). If I had more time, I absolutely would have done more.

But if you're wondering how he killed himself in the first ending, it's because he mixed pills with alcohol.

If you have any other questions, let me know. I'm glad you were able to check out the game, Mammon. Always nice to hear what you think.

Hello, aceredshirt13! Thanks for playing. We're glad you enjoyed it (and the singing ;)).

To answer your question, the voice actors actually weren't French. Mr. Cool and Alluring in particular lets me know that this is his first time with the accent. But they're happy if they managed to pull it off right!

Also, someone asked me what the main guy was thinking if you didn't resist his kiss. Here's the answer:
This is the original text version, in case anyone's curious.

In other news, the voting's over. The animation's going to be...a surprise! I hope you look forward to it, everyone. Happy holidays!
