Synopsis
Blake Radcliffe, aged 32, was once an aspiring author...
But now, after the tragic loss of his wife, Cynthia, his aspirations have vanished.
With no inspiration, and no hope for the future, Blake becomes a recluse - until a chance meeting with a young girl called Sunny,
who just so happens to be in the wrong place at the right time.
Can Sunny help shine a little light in Blake's dreary life, or will her best efforts be for nothing?

Blake
In his early 30s (but hates being reminded of it).
Cynical, grumpy, and short-tempered - but can be sweet sometimes.
Enjoys watching hospital documentaries, as he finds the blood and guts cathartic.
Has a huge fondness for musicals, particularly
The Phantom of the Opera -
and nurses an intense, seemingly irrational hatred for the Hollywood actor Gerard Butler.
Sunny
15 years old.
Has aspirations of being a singer or an actress.
Despite her young age, she's mature, responsible, and intelligent.
The kind of girl who studies hard, gets good grades, and is well-liked by her teachers.
Finds Blake irritating and self-obsessed, but tries her best to cheer him up -
even if she has to suffer his endless tirades against the Hollywood actor Gerard Butler.

This looks so cute! I love the comic book style text bubbles and I'm interested to see how this unlikely duo came together. I'll definitely be giving this a play in the next few days.
- and I just happen to have an irrational love for Gerard Butler, B-list actor extraordinaire. This is the game for me.

Just read this last night and really enjoyed it! I loved that
it really subverted how you'd typically expect a story like this to go - I thought it would end with Blake deciding to show up at Sunny's show after all, but he didn't, which was probably a lot more realistic. It was also pretty funny and surprising that his wife turned out not to be dead, although in retrospect I should have noticed a couple hints.
The sprite art is lovely too! Looking forward to more from you in the future, as always.

I wanted the revelation about Cynthia to be something of a 'twist', but it's not really that much of a 'twist'...
This story doesn't have much of a twist in general, it's too meandering for a structured plot orz

Such a nice, realistic story. I felt better reading about someone as miserable as Blake the same way he feels better watching those surgery documentaries, and the GUI textboxes you used look and worked very nice!
