Epilogue [Point and Click Adventure] [Science Fiction] [Free]

#1 Post by Mutive » Mon May 25, 2020 12:04 pm

Hi everyone! I've been experimenting a bit with using Ren'py as a point and click interface. (I really miss playing the point and click games that I loved as a kid!)

Any feed back is much appreciated as I'm hoping to do a somewhat larger scale project in the near future. (So would love knowing what's working/what's not, etc.) Also, if people are interested in potentially collaborating on this type of game, let me know. (Right now, I have some thoughts regarding a humorous fantasy point and click adventure!)

Onto the game!

Welcome aboard the Esperanza. Thirty years ago, this space ship arrived at the alien planet of Ceti-Six, then was never heard from again.

Explore this ship and learn what happened to its crew in this point and click adventure.

Epilogue is expected to take approximately 1 hour to complete.

I really liked the ending of this game. Nice touch.

One thing I would have wanted to have, is an indication when the cursor is over a clickable area, such as the cursor image changing.
That would have saved a lot of clicking over non-clickable points.

But all in all, a nice little game.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed. :)

I was debating whether adding a glitter animation (or something similar) would make things too easy or more enjoyable overall. I may have to add something in (or at least experiment with it a bit. I think when I first created the game, it felt too "easy"...but then when I tried to test play it, even I had no idea where all the points were, so I suspect the animation would be a good touch.)

Thanks again for playing and commenting!

So, I have worked out the programming for adding little sparkles (I didn't think it would take too long, but always good to test before I type that out anywhere!).

I'm slowly adding them in (I have the living room done so far...it's only maybe a minute a sparkle...if I don't care too much how they look. But I keep tweaking them, which takes longer because I keep fiddling with the positioning.) I'll post again when finished and thanks again for the suggestion! (I think I sometimes get lazy and don't do the obvious even when I know I should.)

I updated the game with sparkles to show the active points here: https://mutive.itch.io/epilogue

If anyone would like, I'd be happy to share the sparkle animation/code for the point and clicks (and sparkles). It's all pretty basic, but if someone wants to do something similar, it's probably a solid example. :)
