The Pixelated Monster [free, cardgame, horror, surreal]

#1 Post by GIPPOplay »

Welcome to Mallory Farm!

"The pixelated monster" is a crossover between a visual novel and a solitaire card game.It was the first game I made with Ren'py, a well-known open source software. I created the art, I coded, I writed in Italian and translated (mostly) with Google translate (so blame him for grammar errors and weird sentences).

The aim of the game is to defeat the pixelated monster that hovers threateningly on the farm, trying to bring at least one of its four stats to 0 by the 50th day.

To do this, you will have to face the Sho-Sheps, terrible servants of the monster, making the right decisions from time to time and avoiding that the available time or your life points reach zero.

The five inhabitants of the farm will help you in this difficult mission, as it seems that they too have an interest in breaking free from the monstrous yoke of this cumbersome presence!

Daily events are "drawn" from a deck of 53 events composed as follows:
  • Battle events: with them it is possible to attack the monster avoiding the Sho-Shep, inflicting damage in one of its characteristics (drawn in rotation);

    Bonus / malus events: in which you can get bonuses or penalties to your characteristics, ie the amount of damage that can be inflicted on the monster;

    Time manipulation events: where you can go forward or backward in time by a few days;

    Healing events: in which you restore all your hit points;

    Other events: which allow, for example, to shuffle all the events of the deck or to obtain a repellent with which to avoid facing the Sho-Shep.
In addition to random events, every 10 (actual) days a choice is offered from a series of favorable events.
There are 7 possible endings in the game.

The game will always be free and open source.

All that remains is to wish you a happy stay at Mallory Farm in the shadow of the huge, menacing pixelated monster.

This is an interesting concept to me, how you implemented the solitaire gameplay. Congrats on the release, I wish you the best of luck in future projects.
