I want to have iguana as a pet but my mom is freaked out by anything with scale and more than 4 legs (or without legs at all), so I have a dog instead.
I used to have lots of birds but they're all die because of old age. And since at that time UN had declared the level 5 international health/disease warning (the new avian flu virus), I decided not to raise another bird.
One of my old canary, which was tame enough to fly around (in outside, not in cage) and back to its cage on its own, and land on my finger (because I raise it since it was an egg), was eaten by a stray cat which I didn't know how the heck it could get inside my house... I still remember looking at the cat with my canary still in its mouth (T_T) If I could caught the cat at that time, I'll make sure that it regrets ever being born on this earth. I MEAN IT!!!

I had two parakeets growing up so I know how fun it is to have pet birds. They weren't very tame, though, since I was pretty young and afraid that if I put my fingers near them they would bite me. I miss them... but since I'm gone a lot and have a cat, I don't think I should get any more for awhile. (They also get their seed hulls and feathers EVERYWHERE!) I've heard parakeets can learn to talk but they never did... they would just screech at each other a lot, lol.
That's a shame that happened to your canary though ;_; *hugs*

Your canary is quite a looker there, I mean it's smart!!! (Banzai to the canaries XD )
Right now, I don't know if I should hate the cat or not...but definitely, if I was the owner of the canary and even saw it on the cat's mouth, I'l definitely let the hell loose

I know what you mean by being afraid to touch them ^_^ One time I tried to get one lovebird out of the cage, it bit so hard I could cry.
Ugh...you can laugh all you want but one time I headed to my province and there was a turkey there. I just tried to feed it when it started to run towards me!!! I was like WTF THE TURKEY IS RUNNING AFTER ME!!! Eventhough I didn't get injured, I still have a trauma when it comes to birds...just a little.

We have a lot of birds at home, like almost a full room of them.
And if I ever see you in real life, I'm gonna drag you to my dad's pigeon loft and lock you there >D
Just kidding xD

My late father used to have pigeons. He used to have a rooster before the pigeon, but that cock was too noisy in the morning (imagine a rooster screaming "Cock-a-doodle-doo" each morning in the middle of urban housing).

Meowwngg...??

But if your pet dies because of a disease, it's better not to eat it.
Oh, and I can't bring myself to eat my pet, no matter how it dies... even if the purpose of me raising that animal is to later eat it in the first place. I raise lots of lobsters (to be eaten) but in the end, I didn't eat any of them...
