LSF Appreciation Thread

#1 Post by choklitchan » Sun May 29, 2011 9:32 pm

There's not enough luvin going around nowadays, especially on the internet. I'm not a veteran, nor have I been here very long, but I very much appreciate and am grateful to the LSF community for all that it is and the people in it.
I thought it would be nice for people who have grown to like and even love this place to show a little appreciation for it. Tell us what you love about this place, give a special shout-out to people who have been good to you, or just say something nice. Maybe tell us how you found this place, and why you stayed. It doesn't matter; just post something encouraging.
Oh, and don't be afraid to repeat what other people say; sometimes I see someone write what I wanted, and refrain from participating. But this is a thread for everybody; jump in. :D

As for myself, here are some things I like about this forum
1. Fist and foremost, the community.
I haven't yet seen another forum with so many encouraging, kind, patient individuals. This place has a very relaxed, creative vibe. You guys are quick to welcome newcomers, and are very patient even with many repeated questions. From VN makers to gamers, almost everyone seems to get along pretty well. There are differences, but usually they provide more diversity than conflict, from what I've seen.
Also, you guys are so eager to offer your help, I love how kind most of you are. Lending everything from your time to your talents to help people, that's awesome.
A special thank you to BlueLemma for making this place. :)

2. RenPy
A huge chunk of cheesecake love here. Lots of us are here because of RenPy, and I am very grateful. This engine, I can't say it enough, is wonderful, and I'm so glad it exists.
A special thanks to PyTom for making, maintaining, and constantly improving it.

3. Filipinos!
:D I can't help it; a tiny little thing; but I love my asian peoples. XD I'm happy there are people here from my country.
I suppose this can go under "diversity", there are people from all over the world here! It's really interesting to meet you guys and interact with you.

4. The level of intelligence
A lot of other forums put up with a lot of nonsense and poor taste. I like having a place where people can actually type out complete sentences and have intelligent discussions.

5. Relaxed-ness...?
LSF is pretty laid back, and I love that. People can goof around and have fun without (usually) people being offended. And when someone is offended, you guys are usually quick to apologize. :)

6. Creativity
I already mentioned this, but I love how there's so many artists, programmers, scriptwriters, storytellers, musicians, and all manner of creative, talented people just floating around! It's inspiriting, and sometimes makes me a little jealous, but it's a healthy kind of jealousy. ^_^ You guys encourage people, and me, to do better, as you cheer us on, from WIPs to finished products.

7. GxBs!
Need I say more...? :D

Ummm... ^////^ My love letter to LSF. Add yours. :)

I used to like LSF for almost the exact same reasons as you, chocklitchan, with the exception of #7. I found LSF when Ren'Py's creator brought some attention to my first three Ren'Py releases uploaded to download.com back in 2006.

Right now, I find myself coming back here often out of some vague sense of moral obligation that probably shouldn't exist in the first place.
How do you make your games? I see. Thank you for the prompt replies, but it is my considered opinion that you're doing it wrong inefficiently because I am a perfushenal professional. Do it my way this way and we can all ascend VN Nirvana together while allowing me to stroke my ego you will improve much faster. Also, please don't forget to thank me for this constructive critique or I will cry and bore you to death respond appropriately with a tl;dr rant discourse of epic adequately lengthy proportions. - Sarcasm Veiled in Euphemism: Secrets of Forum Civility by lordcloudx (Coming soon to an online ebook near you.)

I like this forum because the mods talk to everyone like regular human beings and aren't power trippin' like some other forums I've been to, which only furthers my respect for them. I like the ethnic diversity too. I think it's awesome that there are people from all corners of the world who can come together and be friends because of a common interest. ^_^

Actually, I could probably name about a bajillion more reasons why I like LSF, but I'll stop at those.

by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride
and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past."
