Anime Expo Visual Novel Developer Meetup!

Official thread for the Anime Expo visual novel developer meetup in Los Angeles!

Me and Sakura River were talking on IRC about how all the visual novel developers were trying to get together, and we decided rather than having all kinds of confused individual meetups, that we should have an official organised one!

It won't be too long, only about 15-30 minutes, but it should be enough for everyone to become introduced, and if then you'd like to talk to anyone more you can organise in person from there.

We'll all meet up just outside Live Programming Room 4 (LACC 411 Theater) at 11-ish am on Sunday, July 3rd.

By the way, I know I don't post very often, so many of you probably have no idea who I am. I'm Dani from Dischan.

Anyway, hope to see as many people as possible there!

I am the person who suggested this on twitter. I was getting a lot of requests to meet up and I have a lot of things to take care of at AX. That is why I suggested this so we can all meet up with each other at once.

I'll probably be making another thread posting my VN related schedule so that everyone can get an idea of all the VN related events on the schedule.

If you guys want to have several different meet ups then talk about it here.

I look forward to meeting you both~

Um, as it stands, I'll probably be at my table most of the convention during Artist's Alley hours. In theory, that should make it easy to find me, but seeing as AX is all tweaking huge and stuff, maybe not. XD Anyway, I'm available any time after AA is closed.

Rouge is going, also will be at Artist Alley on Row B <3

Perhaps I can go and meet you guys, although I'm just an aspiring developer for now too |D
As long as as there's at least one set time to meet people, I can probably meet at a LSF meetup 8D

I fly out tomorrow morning, and I'm actually kind of nervous. ^_^;; I've never been to a con this big before, and it looks really exciting. I look forward to meeting everyone who will be there.

The meetup kinda wound up spreading out over the entire weekend, especially since sakevisual's table was directly across from doomfest's. XD

I know for sure that I met the Dischan group (including doomfest and Dani), Counter Arts, lepapillonrouge, duanemoody, Sakurazaki, and Kuroi Games along with a ton of other VN devs who don't frequent LSF.

Highlights of the weekend:

-Getting lost in Little Tokyo on Thursday night while looking for Curry House before settling on dinner at a random place instead. Hey guys, I found out later that the place we ate was directly above Curry House. O_<

-Texting the wrong number to contact Kuroi Games. Someone out there got a "Hey, I'm leaving the hotel and I'll see you by the Hatsune Miku!" text and is probably very confused now.

-Mystery drinks at Starbucks. (My order was "Surprise me.") I still don't know what I drank. But hey, hanging out was great!

-Running into each other at every single VN panel at the con. Sadly, none of us won any of the stuff at the MangaGamer giveaway. : (

I know doom took some pics. Post, yes?

Man, I want to meet Doomfest too (and the rest of you). But I live practically the other side of Earth from that expo location (T__T)

That person was going to meet his girlfriend when he received that text. Now his girlfriend dumped him because he wasn't there at their meeting place. Sake-bento, that's your fault...

And who knows what inside it... Remember the bad rumor how that doughnut/donuts was made? I don't ever want to drink something with name "Surprise Me" ^_^

I wish I had known about the developer meet-up beforehand. I'm a California resident already and have a friend or two in the L.A. area. Although, on the other hand, finances are tight. I'm glad to read about how it went though. Next year! :)

And so begins another typical moe love drama...

Unfortunately, I couldn't get an apartment to live in San Diego until the beginning of August, so I couldn't go. :( However, I'll definitely be goin' next time as long as it takes place in San Diego or somewhere close by again!
