NaNoWriMo? Oh I participate every year!
Instead of writing a novel, I'm going to do some writing for my game, Maid of Midsummer, just as a personal goal. 8000 words per day for a game, though? That might be even more difficult than writing a novel! But it'll be a lot of progress for my game, I think.
I also FAIL every year, too. XD
I'm probably going to do something a little different this year though. XD It's cool, I've failed every year too... but that's actually a fantastic idea! :O I wish you luck ^.~ Unfortunately, my visual novel is progressing painfully slow XD I also have the SAT coming up and everything...so I'm not sure I'll even be able to participate in NaNo fully this year D:babyfish wrote:NaNoWriMo? Technically to be a participant in NaNoWriMo, you have to release your entry before the month ends. I think you can release an unpolished beta version and that'd be considered fair, but I'm a little skeptical about whether or not you can finish MoM (That looks so weird when I abbreviate it >_>) in such a short time span. It's already a huge game, and unless each obtainable only has a few events, then it's going to take a long time.babyfish wrote:Instead of writing a novel, I'm going to do some writing for my game, Maid of Midsummer, just as a personal goal. 8000 words per day for a game, though? As for me, I have a mindscrewy idea that would make a fabulous mindblowing VN. It might be a little complex to keep track of all the choices though :c Perhaps I'll take a stab at NaNoWriMo next year...

Indeed, I am not looking forward to it -.- But good luck with either choice! ^.^ I'm still working on doing more simple VN rather than complex ones though, unfortunately I'm still figuring out how to work renpy :/Argh, I hate SATs!Just the thought of them makes me want to rage. Good luck on that 3-4 hour devil of a test.

Actually the game The House that Bled Paint is based on one of my NaNo novels. And my comic, The Girl with No Story, is from another. NaNoWriMo is great creativity fodder.

Re: Who on here is participating in NaNoWriMo this year?
Thanks, dear! Wish you luck as well with SAT, your VN, and NaNoWriMo. November is usually my busiest month of the year as well, so I don't expect to reach 50k words. (maybe 35k, that's where I usually get to before I RAGE!quit)
I did plan to write a novel originally for this year, about a human girl who resides in a huge and supposedly haunted mansion...which also happens to be a safehouse for werewolves, vampires, witches, mermaids, and all manners of otherworldly creatures. Her job is to find the fiendkind scattered throughout the city and give them protection from humans of an organization who have been viciously hunting them for centuries, all the while maintaining the facade of a perfectly ordinary university student. Everything starts to fall apart at the seams, though, when the classmate she likes accidentally stumbles on her secret...
It sounded to me like a fun idea for a light-hearted novel, but, eh, I figured I'd better get a move on with my game. Maybe I'll save that for another visual novel idea.
@Rewritten Ennui: I know, but this is not so much for the sake of participating NaNoWriMo as it is making some progress with MoM. Even if I did manage to write 50k words for my game, I still wouldn't be willing to release just that as a beta. Essentially, I'm just using NaNoWriMo as an excuse to write 50k words for a game script, as a personal goal, and as Susan said, as creativity fodder. XD

I might have the time to participate in NaNoRenO next year... but with all the stuff I'm already doing this fall/winter, no chance for a NaNoWriMo participation, sorry.

I am participating this year. Last year was my first year, in which I somehow managed to "win". Hopefully I can do it again next year. I'm still deciding which story to cover so I might be writing for a VN, but we'll see.

I have more obligations and projects in that month than I particularly care to think about right now. >.< I normally do, but not this year.
My common sense is tingling!
Woah! I actually have a website now. It never updates!

Re: Who on here is participating in NaNoWriMo this year?
I'm still wondering about this.
Last year, I failed pretty badly... But the idea still intrigues me. And I have plenty of plot bunnies in my head, so I might as well give it a shot. But on the other hand, I have a VN to work on...
I might set myself a goal with it, or try to write a novel, or try to write a different novel... But I'm not sure yet.
Agh, damn.

Young Writers Program is the children/teens version, and the one I tried last year. Here you can set your own goal.
Actually, I know what my mistake was last year - I had just come up with the basic setting and character idea and didn't have any plot as such, which is pretty lame, considering that you can't write 50k of fillers and even if you do, that wouldn't be much of a novel.
Anyway, just looking at their helpful links gets me all hyped up. Seriously, if only I had the patience to do everything I want to do...
I'm pretty sure I'll participate this year. ^^
EDIT: Oh, I know! I'll focus on programming my VN and try and write a novel/another VN.
... Anyone with me on that? xD
