There's this meme that's been floating around the DeviantArts for a while now, and it sounds like it'd be a fun writing exercise to bring to Lemmasoft too. Basically, you pick 12 of your characters then go to town answering some random questions.

I'll start things off with an example.

Boss would make a better college professor, because his troll-level is far higher. He would teach Business, and grade on the curve of 'whoever survives to the end of the semester passes'.

Depends on how much you're into goatees, heterochromia, and Machiavelli.


03) 12 sends 8 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?

Nedrick goes on a power trip by finally ordering someone else to get him coffee. Matthew succeeds, provided that his friends don't get in the way.

Greg's favorite book is Axe Cop, Vol. 1.


05) Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?

Honestly it would make equal sense for both of them to swear fealty to each other, because both of them would have a plan to manipulate the other into doing something that falls within their goals anyways.


06) For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should s/he share a studio apartment with 9 or with 10?

Tough call. Jeff might flip a coin to determine who he rooms with, or just say screw the rules and take both of them in. It would be a pretty awesome household either way.


07) 2, 7 and 12 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?

They go to a diner. Nedrick proceeds to get bored out of his skull as Douglas gives a big spiel about transhumanism while Banks stares blankly at him/takes mental notes.


08) 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?

Katarin challenges Mike to an dance-off. As Mike has learned well from Jeff, it is epic.


09) If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would s/he get it back?

Matthew would use his superior height and intelligence to snatch the incriminating photo from Ellis while he wasn't looking.


10) Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire.

11) What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?

Easy. Sala needs some trustworthy lug to follow orders and not ask too many questions. Ellis doesn't ask questions and will slaughter nearly anything you point him at in the name of glory. All she has to do is ask.


12) If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?

I'd be mildly annoyed by Douglas until I found a subject both he and I shared a common interest in.


13) If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?

Conquer the known world.

N/A, but I haven't gotten anyone to draw him yet.

Banks would back Jeff because he's more amiable.

Nedrick would concede. Kurt would bribe Ellis with an axe and seize the pancake for himself.

"You require my services to capture your erstwhile companions? It just so happens that I am an expert at catching them all." *takes out Pokeball-shaped smoke bombs*

It's easier to list the things Jeff wouldn't be likely to be arrested for.


21) What is 6's secret?

He isn't naturally inclined to like people.


22) If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?

Greg would go beyond the impossible, aided by the fact that he is racing a midget.


23) If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8?

It's like choosing between two fails here, but Douglas is tall and I could use him as a distraction long enough to escape peril.


24) 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he/she is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?

With Sala's gang threatening to take over the underworld, the Vikings and the Metalheads form a hasty alliance, the former sending Ellis as their representative, the latter sending Greg. However, Greg's usual quiet nature rubs Ellis entirely the wrong way, and their lack of teamwork nearly gets them both killed in battle, only to be saved by the timely intervention of what appears to be a small demon in a business suit. He introduces himself as Boss and they proceed to wreck Sala's cronies.

Maybe too easily, as Boss immediately switches sides and blasts Ellis and Greg into the ground.

When they come to, they discover a note saying that they'd better surrender, or Nedrick gets it. Neither Ellis nor Greg particularly care about some random guy, so they decide to storm Sala's hideout.

Just then, Jeff appears before them, decks them out in his best Renaissance Faire gear, and tells them that even as they are now, they could never hope to defeat Sala. They must seek out the mad noblewoman Katarin, who will give them what they require.

They seek her out and she gives them a minigun and an elephant chariot. When the battle is over, the entire city is leveled, but Ellis and Greg have technically won.

Wait, a title? I guess I'd call it "Search and Destroy".

Er, probably Nathaniel, even though he'd get teased a whole lot by the student body. Chester wouldn't even bother teaching. Nathaniel would probably teach physical education or health, being a flier and all.

...Well, I guess Basil is handsome, despite his permanently furrowed brows.

Genevieve probably wouldn't make it a hard mission, probably just to go grocery shopping, with a list because Orseline is derpy like that.

.__.'' I don't read many books, but Eric likes horror mysteries and epic fantasy stories.

Neither, since swearing an alliance to Chester basically means you're screwed, and Basilio prefers to work alone unless it somehow benefits him.

He'd probably room up with Eric since he dislikes motherly figures who nag a lot. Which Ivory is and does .__.''

Good lord this would be one awkward party for Basil. They would go to a high class Italian restaurant at Genevieve's recommendation, with Genevieve talking with Henrietta about the perks of travelling and exchange stories. Poor Basil would be left out for most of the conversation, just eating quietly in his seat.

08) 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?
These two girls would have a friendly competition, only for it to end in a draw. They'd realise that the two of them get along smashingly and would become best of friends.

09) If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would s/he get it back?
Poor Terryl probably wouldn't even realise that he had taken it, so it wouldn't take much for him to get it back. All Orseline has to do is track him down and ask for it.

10) Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire.
"The travels around the world and beyond."

11) What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?
Anything that would involve a disruption in their usual routines. Like a big bad coming to destroy the world.

We would probably be awkward with each other at first, but eventually get along once I started teasing her

Make me a sammich! But seriously, I'd get her to teach me how to cook~

Probably Chester because he's a troll like that. Terryl won't even try to go for it, and Genevieve would wait like the polite person she is, but of course get angry when Chester swipes it.

He'd die of embarrassment before uttering something so shameful in his eyes.

A variety of things actually. Most likely would be property vandalism or destruction.

That he actually cares a lot more for Avery than he lets on.

Eric for sure. Damn those long legs.

Honestly, I'd feel safer with Henrietta since Orseline has absolutely no combat experience :'D Not to mention she's so naive.

6, definitely. He'd have a LOT more to teach... probably business administration, or any sort of management and marketing. Hinami... hmm, she could be a literature teacher specializing in expressionist poetry, but she'd probably never be on time for her lectures.

Reasonably hot. She's a brainy, thoughtful woman; I like that type.

Astelli sends Sachiko to make friends, real friends, not just people who owe her favors. It is extremely successful to Sachiko, as she finds a few hundred more people owing her favors. Astelli never asks her to do anything again, ever.

04) What is or would be 9's favorite book?
Mao's Red Book

05) Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?
2 to 6, as 6 never swears fealty to anyone, and he might convince 2 to swear fealty to him in exchange for helping her over her Writer's Block, which he probably could.

06) For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should s/he share a studio apartment with 9 or with 10?
10. Erika would probably be curious enough to do the experiment, and to 5, curiosity is a good start for a roommate. (Also, we'd have a really weird yuri game then... scientist vs succubus)

07) 2, 7 and 12 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?
They go to a sushi joint and discuss how philosophy and religion shape modern society, why people don't think enough about the impact their decisions are having and how to change that.

08) 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?
Erika turns bright red, apologizes a thousand times, says it will never happen again and then asks what it is she has done wrong in the first place. Gunther accepts her apology explains, and Erika gets wiser knowing that.

09) If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would s/he get it back?
Sachiko would blackmail Tôkyo-kun to get it back. What, you cannot blackmail the spirit of a city? Obviously, you've never met Sachiko!

11) What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?
Have Simone get abducted to Toyko so that Franklin has to chase after her, and have Tôkyo-kun want Simone out of the city as quickly as possible.

Well, The Supervisor would bring his own, uhm, lodging, and we are both quiet people, so I guess we'd get along well. Also, as he never saw a movie in his whole life, I think he'd be interested in my DVD collection.

LMFAO oh man. I think Chiaki and Carmine would both make terrible professors because Chiaki would get pissed off too easily and Carmine would try to hit on every female student in the room. But overall I guess Chiaki would be a better professor unless the subject was something like "The Female Anatomy" or "How to Lose a Girl in 2 Days".

02) Do you think 2 is hot? How hot?
Yukinari is not hot, he's cute. Of course, personally he'd beg to differ. But I suppose he's hot if you're into guys that look like kids. Or something.

Lucien isn't taking orders from Sabine anytime soon. But for the sake of this, let's say that Sabine has sent him to go buy her some tea from one of the upperclass vendors because she can't go there, being noveau riche. Obviously it would succeed because Lucien is a boss.

04) What is or would be 9's favorite book?
Azhar... I think if we go for being time period-appropriate, The Count of Monte Cristo would be his favorite. It came out in 1844 and MJ takes place in the late 1850's, so that works.

I think Chiaki and Yukinari would rather die than have to swear fealty to each other.

This is easy. Masaharu would definitely go for Tetsuyoshi. Their personalities would go well together and they'd stay out of each other's way. If Masaharu had to room with Azhar, I think it'd be a disaster. XD;

Wow, Yukinari, Alonzo, and Sabine? That would be the most bizarre dinner party ever. They'd go to a fancy restaurant. Alonzo would try to object to this, but Sabine and Yukinari, both being stubborn little devils, would force him to cave. Then Yukinari and Sabine would sit there and probably discuss topics like the weather or their family finances all the while making little sarcastic jabs at each other. Meanwhile, Alonzo would shrink in his chair and wish he was anywhere but there.

08) 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?
Natsume... Challenges Tetsuyoshi to a duel... I can only imagine how this came about, but inevitably Natsume would oversleep on the day of the duel, miss it, and Tetsuyoshi would win by default.

09) If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would s/he get it back?
I don't think Lucien could do anything about it considering that Kyousuke can, err. Time travel. And he can't. XD; But it's not like Kyousuke would want to take Lucien's things, anyway. They wouldn't help him accomplish his goals in any way.

10) Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire.
"The Follies of Pursuing Love and Revenge".

11) What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?
This is kind of the whole plot of the first half of BCM... Kyousuke and Shuuki working together... XD Apparently all I needed to do was kill off Masaharu. Shuuki was then VEEEERY willing to cooperate.

12) If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?
I live in a totally landlocked area. I have no idea how or why Alonzo would come and visit me, but I imagine we'd get along quite well.

13) If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?
Natsume? Hahahahaha pervy things aside... Make out with Yukinari I dunno, stay awake long enough for us to have a serious conversation?

Well my friend Airi does, but that's because she's MJ's artist. XD Does that even count?

15) If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, which would it be?
Yukinari would pick Shuuki because it'd be more interesting than if he picked Masaharu.

"DOWN WITH TRAINS!!!!"

I ... Have never even remotely thought about how to represent Lucien with a song. If there are any songs about being an arrogant fussbucket, that would be it for him.

Kyousuke, Chiaki, and Sabine. How is it that Sabine keeps getting stuck with weirdos for meals? I think Kyousuke would get to eat it but I can't reveal how. XD; Let's just say that if he reaches for it first, there's no way anyone else can grab it.

(HAHAHAHA YUKINARI TRYING TO PICK UP TETSUYOSHI HAHAHA oh man /wipes tear from eye) Whatever, Yukinari doesn't use pick up lines. He'd just annoy Tetsu until he followed him somewhere and then he'd strike.

20) What would 5 most likely be arrested for?
I don't think Masaharu would ever do anything he'd get arrested for. Wow, every other character on this list I could have come up with something for, but Masaharu is just too strait-laced. D:

21) What is 6's secret?
Both of Chiaki's parents are dead. Actually I guess this isn't really a secret, just something that hasn't come up yet. I'd say "He has a crush on Natsume", but that's not a secret to anybody, lol.

22) If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
Azhar would get there first just because he'd probably cheat. Carmine, despite how he might act, would never do that.

23) If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8?
I'd be pretty safe with either Alonzo or Lucien, but I think Alonzo would be my preference.

Carmine volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he is actually a spy for Shuuki. Meanwhile, Shuuki has kidnapped Sabine in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of Masaharu, they seek out Natsume, who gives them what they need to complete their quest.

Okay firstly... Azhar would never team up with Kyousuke. "I'd never want to partner with someone even shadier than I am." he'd say. Shuuki's secret organization is really just the Fashion Police. (which would make sense for Carmine to be a part of) If Sabine was the hostage, Azhar would never surrender lol. Masaharu's wise advice is nothing more than "I-it's not like I really believe in my brother or anything, but I have to admit that he's pretty useful in difficult situations... God, but my brother can be so annoying at times..." Basically, it's brother complex-fueled advice. Having Natsume on their quest would do absolutely nothing as he'd do nothing but sleep the whole time, especially since he wouldn't want to go against Shuuki's organization or save a hostage he doesn't care about.

So a title? "Two Shady Guys and a Narcoleptic Give Up on Their Fashion Police Opposition and Decide to Spend the Afternoon Playing Scrabble (and Napping)".

This looks like tons of fun, but I don't have 12 characters that anyone around here would care about, so I think it'd be more fun to toss in the characters from my VN with those from a few other LSF projects. Omni, Camille, may I borrow some of the characters from FA:NG and BCM to put on the list along with some of my own characters and fill this out (and make many guesses)?

Well uh, Joseph IS actually a teacher so... yeah... I'll have to say he'd be better at teaching than Yukinari. I feel like Yukinari's a bit too spacey to be a teacher, anyway, and I get the feeling he'd have a hard time actually caring about his students.

Douglas... D: Not terribly so, except he's got that whole nerdy-talking thing go for him. Hm. The ability to spout knowledge with dead-on confidence IS pretty hot.

03) 12 sends 8 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?
Zack and Mike are playing in a party together in some MMO or another. Zack asks her to go retrieve the last item they need for their quest. Mike pwns all and epic win ensues.

04) What is or would be 9's favorite book?
Ooh, I know this one! Natsume's favorite book is probably some book or another of traditional Japanese poetry.

05) Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?
That would be peculiar on either side. I'll guess that Joseph is more likely to swear fealty to Douglas, because Douglas just seems way too stubborn and conceited to swear fealty, whereas Joseph is willing to compromise and do things for the greater good.

He and Douglas spend entirely too long discussing computer science and D&D, until they get into a heated argument about whether Python or Java is better or about whether such-and-such class is broken and Zack just drops it for pacifism's sake. In an attempt to not snap at Douglas for flaunting all his knowledge Mel keeps trying to bring up topics she doesn't think he would like, such as art, but it probably disappointed to discover that he has something to say about everything.

That would be weird. While Greg may appear way more intimidating than Shuuki, he seems to actually be a pretty chill guy, whereas Shuuki has a nasty little temper--I'd expect Shuuki to do the challenging. I wonder why they would be dueling? I imagine if Greg had a damn good reason to challenge someone to a duel he'd be pretty terrifying, and also there would magically be metal background music. Shuuki would hold his ground as long as he could.

I think Mike's first attempt would be to put on a "plee~aase it would mean so very much to me" act, and when that had no impact on Chiaki, she'd get crafty. Possibly exploit the whole Short Person with Glasses deal.

Yukinari offers his help to Chiaki and Natsume, which Chiaki grudgingly accepts just because Natsume isn't doing anything useful anyway. To pretty much no one's surprise, it turns out Yukinari is a trollface spy and he's been telling Jason all about what the global mail service's champions were doing, which was basically nothing anyway. Jason stages a kidnapping of Zack, but what our two heroes don't know is that Jason actually kidnaps Zack on a pretty regular basis and Zack doesn't mind, and it was all just a ploy to win their pity. Nonetheless it works--they seek the wise counsel of Jeff, who happens to be playing Rock Band at the time and says that the answer is to rock out. So they embark on a long and arduous journey into the Scandinavian caverns where they find Gregor, Sage of Metal. Greg gives them the Guitar of the Ages. With its power, they approach Jason's anarcho-commune stronghold. Natsume awakens like Sleeping Beauty to reveal his hidden talent at rocking out, using the Guitar of the Ages to play a song so deep and poignant that Jason drops everything to spend ten years meditating on its meaning and ultimately achieves nirvana.
