Ah, but Dodd still won't be arrested for bribery, will he? After all, it's just a campaign contribution, regardless if he just came out publicly in the news stating that he only gave the money on the condition of the politician doing what he told them to do.

Gist of Dodd's quote:
You bastards didn't do what I bribed you to do! I'm watching you and you better pay attention to me!

......You know, at this rate I might just consider moving back to Europe. I love how so many of these people automatically label dissenters "pro child porn" or "pro piracy" if they oppose the bills, but now I have to wonder if there's anyone "pro common sense" left at this rate in the government....

I'm lovin how desperate these big corporations and corrupt and/or stupid politicians are getting to try all sort of different ways to do the same thing.

Not to mention now this whole thing with ACTA.
I believe that a man should not go back on his decisions,
But here I am deciding to break that one rule of manliness.
Because I would rather be thought less of as a man,
Then be lost as a person.

Thought this was an interesting read:

I think the guy's right: one day of protest may win the battle, but it doesn't necessarily win the war.

They make a good point, but why do they assume that people who do nothing but change their profile pictures will suddenly and effectively boycott a company? Because a strongly worded web page said so? It just seems like another one of those wishy-washy solutions. "We should, uh, boycott those companies! Here's a list of them. Pick two or three, I guess." Ideas are easy to come up with. It's why the idea dump has most posts than the complete games section has topics. Actually implementing solutions is harder, and, as far as I'm concerned, blacking out thousands of websites for a day is far more effective than just suggesting a boycott.

Maddox still lives?!

I remember this guy from way, way back when his website was essentially him flameraping every single guy who ever wrote an e-mail to him in response of his immensely controversial essays on, well everything. Good to see that he's finally doing something, like, productive.

I didn't read through all posts, but a thought came to my mind.

If SOPA allows to shut down/block sites with allegedly copyright infringement(s). How do site admins protect themselves against 'attacks'? In the sense of big company A doesn't like a certain competition B and has a couple of "volunteers" posting 'compromising' links and material to that site's forum etc. As pointed out, this bill is bound to be abused in one way or another o_0

I read about the Veoh.com story and that already went pretty far.

It's also funny to read about how Hollywood came into existence around 1908 as independent film makers run from New York and its MPPC. Suspecting the film and music industry trying to force those bills apparently the tables have turned yet again...

You realize Canada's version of SOPA "C-11" is about to become law, and in addition the government can spy on our internet?

Very scary stuff. Here's one of many:
