Fallout: Nuka Break the series (movie made by Fallout fans)

#1 Post by leon » Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:43 pm

I wanted to share this just in case there's any Fallout fans here that might have missed this...

Fallout: Nuka Break the series is a non-profit parody webseries made by Fallout fans, funded by Fallout fans.

This started as a short film set in the Fallout universe as part of Indymogul's do-it yourself film special effects web series.

The protag is adorable, but the gun-gal named "Scar" ruined it for me.

Huh. Impressive. An almost OCD-like attention to detail, elaborate and accurate sets. Costumes so accurate you can easily tell what outfits from the game they are wearing, but they keep them looking like real clothing, and perfect reproductions of Fallout weapons complete with particle effects. The green screening and mats are near perfect, and going into Episode 2, I see actors from big budget Hollywood movies . . . .

So this is, it appears, a bunch of people involved with big movie productions as a day job, making fan fiction videos as a hobby. :?

That's kind of awesome. I like what I've seen so far. I'll keep watching. Apparently I wasn't the only one who played a character obsessed with finding Nuka-Cola in a land filled with Sunset Sarsaparilla in New Vegas.

All I really cared about was my ED-E, then he glitched out of the game and I went on a sorrow-fueled rampage which ended with both Mr House and Ceasar dead at my feet.

I thought her acting is kind of average too. But apparently these guys are friends in RL, so I guess they couldn't leave her out, especially after she took part in the original short.

I think they are just 3 small-time actors, trying to make it to bigger movies. Zack Finfrock's (Twig) daily job is working as a host for a show on YouTube where they show cheap DIY methods for movie effects. Here's making of some of the props - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu22XNVtpo8. This started as a short film, with practically no budget (just a lot of free time by these guys). The original short film was very popular, so they asked for donations and collected over $20,000, which allowed them to hire actors and made props that were not made out of cardboard.

Zack also draws, by the way - http://zackfinfrock.daportfolio.com/

I've always had a soft spot for ghouls, and this series just solidifies that.
