Two days ago, while doing some exercise, I somehow did my back in. While this is not the first time I've did something like this, this one was really bad. We are talking about something along the lines of having an ambulance take me to hospital. I'm back home now with a astonishing amount of pills to take (12 a day) to deal with the pain.

Oh the joy!
I've once did my back only by sneezing and once more by trying to lift my 5 years old cousin. Yeah, I'm officially a middle aged man... (T__T)

I tried to play
Rapelay
. Why the hell did I do that to that to my brain ;~;

Also, the spoiler thing around the name of the game is needed, because I am overwhelmingly ashamed ;~;

Thanks for that. I'm on it!

Last year ran all of that annoyance outta me. Don't know where you live, but after going through these days where we get all the seasons in a 24hr period instead of, you know, the season it's supposed to be.... I'm just rolling with it.

I can smell ash in the air so yeah, it's pretty bad. Hopefully, the cooler weather the following week will make things settle down.

If there's anyone on these forums who lives in or close to those areas, are you okay?

We're fine in San Diego. I live too deep inside the city to be affected. Some of my friends have small damage to their yards, but have avoided the worst of it.

It is absolutely blazing hot here though.

I have a relative who applied for American social security a age 64, only a few months away from their birthday, not knowing they would be making 25% more from social security if they apply at 65. They only found this out today.

Not knowing this until now, their first social security check is already in the mail.

Is there any way to sort this out? Possibly to return the check when they receive it, and instead receive at age 65?

She's planning to call tomorrow. However, each session is a costly long-distance call, because we're dual-citizens living in Canada. But does anyone think the bureaucracy might be able to sort this out?

To the best of my knowledge, your relative can retract the application and return the payment.
Your relative can contact the Social Security Administration via e-mail, but I'd recommend a phone call.
If your relative is 64 years old, he/she is not eligible for full retirement benefits until he/she is 66 years old. If your relative applies for retirement when he/she is 65, they will get 93.3% of the 'full benefit'.

More information is available at the social security web site, to include a benefits calculator
http://www.socialsecurity.gov/

EDIT: Don't call on Saturday or Sunday; you'll just get an answering machine.

Smoke in the air, and the heat is intolerable, but all's good a few miles north of those flames.

Sadly, it's really easy to be dismissive of a problem that doesn't affect you.

I'm not affected by depression, but if I then say that because it's not a problem for me it isn't a big deal and people should just get over it, that's pretty much akin to saying that because I can walk, paraplegics should just suck it up and stop being so lazy.
