Favourite font(s)?
This is really random, but I was just wondering what fonts LSF members use as their "go-to" font.
(Long-winded personal commentary: I've been working as editor for one of my school's publications for the past while, and after a year of frantic graphic design, all I've really learned is "slap HELVETICA on anything and suddenly, it's fantastic hahaha". Also, I've always hated Times New Roman and instead opted for Georgia or Verdana, but it's really grown on me, and, lately, I've taken to submitting every single assignment in Times. And while I think font-snobbery towards Comics Sans is absolutely hilarious, I don't see anything totally wrong with the font itself. N-not like I would use it, ever.)
EDIT: FFFFF TYPO. /fixed

Re: Favourite font(s)?
Sazanami Gothic and Travelling Typewriter, even though I've never used the former in a VN, but mostly in school projects. The latter because it fits mostly the feel of all the stuff I make. I do like AR BONNIE, Georgia, Impact (yep, that font used mostly in rage comics and stuff) and Verdana. I've never used Helvetica. XDD I find Comic Sans cute as a kid, but it looks too mushy at the moment. For comic-style things, I use Anime Ace.

Oh god........................
As a graphic designer, I can't really answer this question. There are too many. TOO MANY.
Though right now it's a mixture of Garamond, Bebas Neue, Bree Serif, Open Sans, Nixie One... no wait, those are just the last ones I used. I CAN NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION ;_;

Re: Favourite font(s)?
My favorite fonts are Conviction (Used it for TFR's general text) Cony (It's a nice font, even you all complain it's too blocky!) Astonished (Example of it is TFR's logo) Old Style1 (TChN's logo and in-game font) and Consolas.

For VNs though, I like the look of Sazanami and Simhei. I'm using Simhei for my VN currently.

Re: Favourite font(s)?
Ah fonts!... My all time favorite is Myriad Pro... it has every state I needed in a font like Condense, Bold, Normal and italic variations of them in one convenient font package... it's like Calibri except easier to read and looks better than Arial.
For Ren'py GUI my favorite and mostly abused font is the HGPrettyFrankH... it is a japanese font with really REALLY ugly spacing that hates non-Japanese computers but will give your project that additional Japanese Eroge feel...

Re: Favourite font(s)?
I've used a number of fonts, but sadly, Times New Roman is my usual go to font for most applications. But then, if I turned in a manuscript in any of the above fonts, I'd get an automagic rejection letter. Several years later I'd hear that my book isn't in the slush pile, but was binned within ten minutes of the envelope being opened. (Yes, that did in fact happen. I used Arial.) Generally, though, I'd stick to more standard fonts that come with a wide range of computers.
I'm going to get off my soap-box now, and let you get back to your day.

http://www.dafont.com/dawning-of-a-new-day.font
Dawning of a new day reproduces cursive handwriting extremely well, yet remains readable to the point that I could actually read a book with it. If I ever got a chance, I'd use it in a CG of a handwritten letter or something and I keep it in my font library for such an occasion.
For non-sans, my favorite is Futura LT:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futura_%28typeface%29
I just generally prefer the look of the lowercase a and t vs Helvetica. The simplicity is nice.
As for text in a blog or news article, I actually don't mind Times New Roman, though I guess I'd probably go with Garamond over anything else. Is it bad that my only reasoning is the difference in j? I feel so picky with fonts recently. Sometimes I wish I had never learned anything about typography, despite having extremely useful applications. Now I can't look at a brand label without noticing all the clever graphical placement, font choices, etc. It drives me crazy. Why can't I just look at box of cereal and think about all the yumminess inside anymore?

Re: Favourite font(s)?
Personally, I prefer the old steadfast Arial and Times New Roman... but they aren't all that pretty are they?
A friend of mine made a font based on a movie we both like, but while pretty it may not be all that functional. XD http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m401y ... o1_500.png (in case anyone is interested)
I'm more of a functional and readable over pretty person I guess. Granted, anything typewriter automatically gets my love (thank you Lumen_Astrum! I use FocusWriter to type and that makes typewriter sounds. NOW TO COMBINE THEM.).

Re: Favourite font(s)?
I've still yet to decide what font(s) I'm going to use in my VN project and my KN project, but in terms of what fonts I use for things in general (including papers and such), I love Times New Roman. I don't know why, but I really just adore it. I also really liked Century Gothic, but since I got Windows 7, apparently you have to pay for it, which ain't gonna happen.
I also really like http://www.dafont.com/where-stars-shine ... htest.font and http://www.dafont.com/windsong.font

Re: Favourite font(s)?
Beautiful fonts are my internet porn. I'm not gonna lie, I've spent countless hours browsing font sites just looking at them and dreaming of some project where I can put them to use. There are just so many it's hard to pick just one favorite. My usual go to fonts are Anime Ace, Georgia and Castellar. If I could, I'd buy every font off of http://www.letterheadfonts.com/.

Re: Favourite font(s)?
WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE. I didn't expect so many font aficionados lol.
Personally, I've been using "Copse" in VNs recently; it's just so cute and versatile. I really like typewriter and handwriting fonts, but with these types of fonts, I tend to impulse-download, use them once, and THEN NEVER AGAIN. :'(

This wouldn't happen to be based on "9", would it?Bane Reiko wrote:A friend of mine made a font based on a movie we both like, but while pretty it may not be all that functional. XD http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m401y ... o1_500.png (in case anyone is interested)
