Where to buy Japanese stuff?

#1 Post by Der Tor »

Lately I am heavily into collecting NES games. I have Stadium Events, Little Samson etc.. But I am still missing some Famicom games in my collection (-:

Normally if I need some Japanese stuff, i get it on Play Asia, but Play Asia isn't really that good when it comes to really old and used stuff. And on Ebay you can't really get the Japanese stuff, since Ebay doesn't seem to be the most popular site in Japan.

So my question is, is there a site similar to Ebay where one can buy used items and the site is popular in Japan, meaning it has a lot of Japanese sellers and Japanese stuff?

You can get imports on amazon too. Just type in what your looking to import on regular amazon.com in the search or go to amazon.co.jp for amazon's japanese site.

amazon.co.jp won't directly ship quite a lot of things outside of Japan, though. Still, if you can find things there, you can use proxy buyers to get them for you. But it's pricy.

Where can I find those "proxy buyers"?
Or would somebody on here be willing to help me with this? (It would have to be somebody who speaks Japanese and maybe even lives in Japan since a lot of the sellers on Yahoo Auctions only seem to ship to Japan).

<- Lazy, busy, and not sure where to find those games.

You should be careful if you ask someone to do the buying for you. 99.99% of people in Japan are very trustworthy, but there is still a risk.

I don't know all the proxy services, the only one I ever used was Rinkya. Along with handling bidding on yahoo auctions JP, they also have (or at least had) a service where you could point them at any japan-only website and say "Buy me THAT" and they'd take care of it. Stupid expensive though.

IIRC they had a feature where you could order multiple things all sent to their headquarters (paying the item cost and the in-Japan shipping fee) and wait until you had your whole collection there and THEN pay to have them shipped to the final destination, so you saved a little bit on the final international shipping, but it still adds up to quite a lot.

But google for something like proxy buyer japan and you'll find more info, like this list: http://temporal-princess.net/buy/proxy.php

Try amiami.jp

This site was once offered to me by someone in tumblr for a cheaper copy of dramatical murder, I never bought anything here before because I'm a closet buyer in amazon and animate(japan only) instead. There is an english site but if you are looking for japanese games, sure you can read Japanese right?
