I'll be different and say... get a course where you are guaranteed financial security in the future.

Boredom is indeed a formidable enemy... but so is the prospect of not being financially secured for the future and between the two... it's pretty obvious which one is more important to address.

You can take your favorite course, you will be happy and satisfied but you should ask yourself what comes after beyond college... will this guarantee me a job secured enough to feed me and my family?... Chances are you'll end up on a different field... I see this way too often here in the Philippines... I see a lot of IT Graduates end up working as Call Center Agents... IT is fun but unless you have a niche specialty, you'll just be as good as the next guy who will probably work for peanuts... same thing goes for other fields... unless you have something that others don't then you'll be just left behind... Modern society is structured and catered around the winner takes all way of thinking...

In my case I took the same path... I took Fine-Arts because it is my favorite despite the protest of my family. And I suffered the consequences... I almost end up as a bum working on odd jobs left and right... good thing I got my lucky break when McCann Erickson hired me as an artist and worked my way up the ladder but even then I'm still struggling financially...

And where I am now?... I'm a businessman selling Wholesale Printer Ink, Manufacturer of Construction Materials, Ad Placement Agency and a Licensed Real Estate Broker and Importer which is way WAY off the course I took in college... I may be a success story but I am a really BAD example of success... more like, I just got lucky...

Long story short... secure your future first... look for a course where future employment and career is guaranteed... everything else takes a backseat... once you have your future secured, rest will fall in place so you can enjoy things in life like hobby and such...

Just an old guy passing by,
JOHAN (UNCLE MUGEN) SY

Edit: May I suggest Architecture, Law... Business Management will not gonna get you far unless you have Money. Doctor is not good since all it takes is a single malpractice crap to ruin your entire career... which is why so many Philippine Doctors now ended up working as Overqualified Nurses...

Well what's the worth of money if your not happy ? I guess I have to stick to my morals and follow what I truly love right ? Love can overcome anything even the biggest problem .

Took computer sciences, Business tech and a few others... guess what tanked? I now live with my parents. I'm now trying to get into Mechanical Engineering.

The art and cooking would be a good idea after you've gotten yourself ready for long hours and little pay. The sciences are a mixed bag. you'll be fine as long as you can prove what's going on the pay is meh but at least you'll be drawing and doing sciency things.

The trick is to get in a field you make enough and on your spare time try for the others.

I used to be just like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee... Lol... OK jokes aside...

I kinda envy your optimistic youthful outlook but I used to be exactly just like you... I'm not gonna stop you from pursuing what your heart desires but at least make sure you have some sort of contingency plan or a financial safety net in case the path you chose didn't turn out quite well.

Just keep in mind that Morals and Personal happiness alone will not guarantee food in the table... if you can balance both then fine but most of the time you'll end up choosing between the two...

Anyway, more power to you my friend and may you be successful and prosperous in the path you choose...

Thank you . Though not each and everyone of us are the same so maybe the path you took would be a lot different than mine. I do understand that we need money to survive but without love and happiness it's worthless. It is true that we need money but it depends on how you choose and decide for your life. Some people say you dont need to be educated to earn money. Well that might be true but I'll tell you this , I'd update you if I have already decided on what I will do for a living and I promise you that I'll pursue it . For my life and for the promise I gave to you .

I myself had a path quite clear to me. When I was growing up I used a lot of computers. And I mean a lot. To a point that my father had to ban me from it. At the time, I was angry at him, but as times past he saw that I did learn a lot from the computer (english if nothing else) and that I exceeded his knowledge of computers. (Even if he was kind of a tech nerd)

So he did lift the time suspension i've had for years. Going into high school I did well in sciences department , math and english and I got recommendations from my teachers to different universities. Anyway, what I chose was computer science and computer engineering (the two are the same in some aspects, computer engineering is more about hardware, and science is software). Not that I know which one I will go all in for i was thinking about which master I should take.

Latly, I ran down to 2 choices. Either Computer Science as a master or, Biomedical engineering from a computer perspective. (making software for X-rays and stuff)

The biomedical engineering seems a lot of fun. But I don't know what kind of oppertunities it will give. For a computer engineer the companies just headhunt them. I know that in asia there is a lot of engineers but in the west there is a large deficit of it. Almost all engineers get employed inside 3 months.

But my point being, it's more about what you are good at and what you are interested to do. You can always make due without a great pay but it might be hard. But you seem to be interested inte quite good jobs but I wouldn't know.

Follow your heart I suppose it's the best advice. Sorry if I wasn't to any help. :/

Man how Renpy has shown me... I am NOT programming material. I've almost shot my computer 3 times now. Don't have the patients for it. so now I'm taking on Building Robots with friggin' laser beams on their heads.

Uncle Mugen brings up an excellent point: money doesn't buy happiness, but it does fund it.

Have you even seen someone with a sad expression while riding a jetski? Nobody is sad on a jetski.

Just my two cents on the matter: analyze your possibilities:
-what do you want to do and what you are interested in?
-what can you do? (physically and psychologically)
-how will you live of it, sadly, money do matter.

I can share my experience being 4th year of Med University. It's a lot of work, it's interesting but there will be a lot expected from you and a lot of pressure. It's also constant work and communication with people, you will see a lot of people with health problems, all day, every day. It can be depressing and tough to deal with. I'm not lying. It's physically challenging too.
But if you are hardworking, find human biology fascinating, are not afraid of responsibility, and have at least a bit of selflessness in you - that's your call. What's great about medical education - diversity. I'm still not sure what kind of doctor I want to be, because choices! There is great deal of creativity to any doctor specialization C:

I'm sorry I laughed too hard xD your words are so wise.
