Thoughts about Reading, writing , and (if) being a bookworm.

#1 Post by michi 18 » Sat Nov 03, 2012 5:28 am

Ok now .... Just a question are you a bookworm? If yes , what are the books that interest you?
If not , why ? As you see , I love reading books ....quite bored last summer led me to looking for games in my interest and led me to VNs and this forum itself. I am quite fond of books. Some people ask me why and how can I handle reading novels without pictures or visuals though, I only have one answer.... I can see these events that I have read in my mind. Thus, it makes me wonder what are other people's thoughts about it . As I want to know myself , I also want to know more about other people. I also consider thinking : What are those people thinking, What life do they have? What are they? These often leads me to curiousity and in the urge of writing to release my emotions.

The way I love reading is also the way I love writing. I want to know about you guys too . What are your thoughts about these things I have written here? My questions, can you tell me your answers?
Yet I am one of the people whom believe that what you love is what inspires you and what gives you motivation .
What does give you motivation (especially to read books and VNs) ?
I agree to those people in these forum who say "You must read first in order to write something."That is true isnt it ? Well maybe they are different things but they are connected and a like. If you saw your favorite writer what would you do? If you saw the book you've been waiting for months what would you feel if you can buy it immediately?

Just wanna know your thoughts, ideas, answers, and internal motives when it comes to Reading,Writing and (if) being a bookworm .

Genre of books that interests me are MYSTERY, crime, dark fantasy, and fantasy. I can read any genres though.

What gives me motivation for reading? My urge to escape reality for a moment. The main reason why I read books is the opportunity it gives me to try out the interesting lives of fictional characters.

What gives me motivation for writing? I want to share stories that will remain in the hearts of my readers(do I have any? XD) just like how the books I've read left special places in my heart. That is currently my goal in life.

Reading is a much more personal experience than watching a movie or playing a game. It's populated by people who all act exquisitely, look just perfect and sound just the way you want. It's set in places feel just right and have a depth that no film could reproduce. Best of all, you see not just the actions and words but can be in people's thoughts, see things in ways you would never see. For me, reading is being a part of another life for a while.

Fantasy is my favorite genre. I love a good romance and mystery as well, but Fantasy also has an exploration of places I've never been and concepts that could never work that way in my world. It has magic, and not just on a "turn that man into a toad" sort, but a "this is unreal and fascinating" sort of magic.

I don't need motivation to read, if a story catches my eye I will simply immerse myself in the pages until the story has played out. I read very quickly so I'll do it in one sitting if my life and family will let me. I don't read as often as I used to because I'm much pickier about books than I used to be. Life is so interesting and I have so little time, I don't want to waste it on a book that's boring or one that will make me unhappy.

I write because I like to see if I can do it well. I also draw, sew, crochet, I'm pretty handy with tools, cook a little, I built my own computer and so on. I like to know and do and be able to say "I did this all by myself." Creation is an amazing thing and I want to be able to do it all someday.

I do agree with that ... maintain my story in the heart of the readers....
Escape the real world....

True reading is far better than watching a movie ...nor playing a game...

While I agree reading is downright amazing. I think any genre can take you into another world. Great books, movies, games. Not all can produce that but just the really awesome ones. I've certainly played games that draw me in as much as a book. Though I will admit it's hard to pass a good book. My favorite ones have yet to be beaten by anything in another media but some things have come close XD. I like creative media regardless of what it is. I've found things that touch me no matter what it is...visual novels in particular when done well really draw me in cause they combine multiple venues that aren't usually combined.
