The Scale of the Universe 2 - by Cary Huang

Things like this always make me more curious as to what is truly out there.

It's impossible for us to be the only 'intelligent' life around this big vat of uncharted reality o.o

What do you guys think? Isn't having no idea of whats out there completely scary but also beyond fascinating?

Statically it's impossible...
There is a 1 in 10,000,000 chance that there is any life at all on a planet.
there are 400,000,000,000 (billion) stars in the Milky way with about 1 in 3 having planets
There are just as many observable galaxies in the universe....
To believe that we are alone is purely arrogance and ignorance at it's best.

Considering when we die we get our own planet if we lived properly, yeah we aren't alone.

I call Mars. Nobody else is allowed on it!

Also, this thing makes my Minecraft character feel insignificant.

It's also statisticall unlikely they're close enough to matter to us, unless someone invents the auto-omni-life-detector-transport-a-matic.

If you follow the teachings of Mormonism, you'll get a better planet.

But if I build an army of Martian robots, I can have several better planets!

I've run across this widget before. I wonder where they get some of their numbers, but I suppose they're close enough.

Despite it being unlikely that life exists somewhere else in the universe as it does on Earth, you can wonder whether it's possible for humans to make a planet or a habitable planet (or moon) someday... Sounds tough or near impossible already.

Usually pushed by ignorant/arrogant religious people
Well this one is kind of straight forward, Take a big Camera Point at an area for a few days. Then count the dots. Really that's it. we've only counted 38% of the visable sky. That picture is taken from about 1/10th the size of the moon behind it. there are over 25000 galaxies in that one picture.

Also there are 3 moons in Jupiter's orbit that have very high chances for plat/critter life. one covered in h2o Ice/water
