Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"
hm.... I like seeing man half naked or naked =^^=, but to get my fix i watch yaoi...
when playing a RPG game set in medieval or any time i want "logical" clothes, like worriers wearing armor that is used to protect them from blows and cuts.... my point is in that picture witch i put in previously, does that outfit look logical?? if that been real life how long she would last before cut in her stomach and made unable to fight? Even if your not a worrier you could get a cold and get sick. even in summer we like to have 20-30% of our body covered. To not get sunstroke and not bur our skin...
when characters wear clothes that look illogical, we lose our connection with that world. Hey it is -10 Celsius, i have bear skin that keeps me warm, but my legs and boobs are not covered, because i like feeling them freeze.
Sexy is okay, over the top open skin.... not okay!

I just like imagining ridiculous things. It's funny.

Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"
Makes sense, but "illogical" clothes are often a feature of RPGs, even when they're not skimpy at all. For example, I remember a notable sequence when a few characters in Lost Odyssey are walking through a frozen wasteland wearing nothing but a thin robe and shorts, and the plot is about how they need to avoid freezing to death.
Developers in general should take more pains to give characters changes of clothing depending on the situation.
Of course, the more fantastical the setting and characters, the easier it is to handwave the outfit as fine given some kind of magic or applied phlebotinum.

Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"
It varies - have you seen the previous threads about people saying what they considered 'fanservice' with male characters? Opinions were all over the place.
Western men are assumed to all be interested in the scantily-clad barbie-doll figure (even though that's not true). There isn't a single predominant image of SEX APPEAL aimed at women in the same way. That doesn't mean that women aren't interested in visuals, just that the cultural idea of what women find sexy hasn't been as carefully codified into a single overly-popular graphical formula.
... there are definitely ways for a guy to look, dress, stand, walk, etc, that are smoking hot, okay?

Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"
LOL WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?
XD
Well, I wouldn't be attracted by sexy clothes I'd be attracted by SEXY MEN =), but I also really care about personality, so I guess I half-agree with the first one, because maybe we CAN be attracted by sexy clothing, but I never really saw a game where they tried (not that I'm really asking for it), so that would be pretty cool. But really, I wouldn't think that as a turn-on, not really, I was just wondering that to then laugh at it XD. But I guess maybe for some other women, some people have their fetishes, you know? I don't think that question should be to the girls in general.

Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"
Hm... tough one... I guess i like games with a good plot. In characters it is important for me that they have a personality, possibly not followed by stereotypes. I don't care if guy is a bit of a beefcake, if he has a personality, he can pass. I also don't like whining characters, or a typical "princess in distress" ones. They annoy me.
A game attracts me by its drawing style too. So if I like it, I'm probably gonna play it.
But once in a while I also like action games with a female protagonist kicking ass all over the place for no apparent reason. Or driving expensive, fast cars to win a race and smash other peoples cars. These games help if you are pretty mad at something and want revenge, or steam-off...
There! Hope it helps!

Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"
I'm a guy, but girls have always been gamers since the creation of the medium. This is not a new development. Just one that's been steadfastly ignored.dramspringfeald wrote:I'm not sure this goes in here or Creator Discussion do to the subject manner but I feel it's better suited here.
I've noticed there are games coming out more for you all but they still seem marked to us guys. So I've been wondering for some time now, What do you girls want in the mainstream Console Universe?
What kind of stories? Should there be more Beefcake? What are you looking for? I know there are MORE then a few of you on Halo but what else? Just wondering.
She's sun and rain: She's fire and ice. A little crazy, but it's nice.

As I recall, in the early stages of consoles (pre-NES) it was actually much more gender balanced, but marketing intentionally started pushing harder for the male market...

Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"
what I remember it was still more Gender neutral till the early PlayStation. the Trick would be to slip real female bad asses into games and Slowly hint that they were in fact REAL people only the names and locations had been switched. Maybe a REAL Bonny and Clyde story, or a story about a very strong, well balanced princesses who runs away from the castle to become a grease monkey fixing and retrieving downed trucks AND soldiers in the middle of combat... who later becomes the Queen OR a little Gun nut who can and will take on hundreds of soldiers (faked on that part) and easily down them while riding on a horse or Motor cycle.papillon wrote:As I recall, in the early stages of consoles (pre-NES) it was actually much more gender balanced, but marketing intentionally started pushing harder for the male market...
THOSE would be some characters that could be slipped into games, Give girls someone to look up to and grab the short attention span of us men.
