live 2d

That website explains it all.
Creating 3d like image with 2d arts.
Pretty sure many of us heard about it.
Free 30 days trial and full version cost around ¥147,000.
For those who are interested, more details here http://www.live2d.com/en/products/price
Seems like a good tool for VN creators.
I'm actually looking forward for VN with such function.
Anyone planning to give it a try?
I am thinking of playing with it once it's out of the market too ^^

Here are some sample videos of live 2d uses in games.

Sorry if this is a little off to the original topic but;
SUMMON NIGHT!!! YES! THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED! I thought it was gone forever, I'm so happy to see a new game from the series.
(I hope this minor notice will bring it over to the west now...)

Anyway, I think this was mention a long time ago if this would be possible to work in Renpy or not.
It'll be a neat little add-in to have in Renpy if it is possible.
Much Appreciated for those who took the Survey!

@ShippoK : Yes I do remember someone asking if live2d works on renpy.
However I haven't seen an actual topic discussing about this program ^^
I think it will take another 1-2 years until this technology gets popular as it still seems unstable.

It's great and can have a wide range of application. I really want it too... but it's too freaking expensive. At least until I start earning in US dollars (or at least in Japanese Yen), it will be forever out of my reach. Not that I don't have that kind of money, but I'd better spend it on a Cintiq (or paying bills).

Still, whatever it is, IMO we'd better to wait for several years so the technology become common enough, then we can have price drop, more stable version, and more options.

I'm interested in it too. In their web there isn't the Student/Teacher price yet.

Do you know how it works?

I must say it looks very interesting but the (non sutdent) price is......wow oO
Also the trial will only exist after summer (would be interesting to know how complicated it really is to create a sprite to be animated with that technology)

Yepp my thoughts it looks very interesting but the price.....ouch and double ouch. 1.5k is not something even I could buy on a whim or because it looks cool (that much would be almost 2-4 months saving up for quite a few ppl)

Having a program like this would be a dream come true. My only concern would be if it can have the same effect on more realistic work compared to simple anime characters.
Can't wait till it the Students & Teachers Edition comes out.

My question is more whether I'd be able to integrate it into the game easily. Dunno. Like to play with it when the english demo is out though.

@xavimat : Yes that! I remember that.
It seems that the discussion on live2d were still unclear back then. ><
I think it's a program designed similar to SAI and you either draw there or...have a drawn art and separate their body parts adding some dots and connection to make it move. (not too sure but that's what I see)
Not easy, I can say...
Never heard of CrazyTalk though, does it work with body movement too?

@LVUER : I'm sure every artist will want to get their hands on live2d.
I absolutely agree that we should wait another few years until it gets stable.
Pretty sure the price will go down. 1.5k is way too expensive for personal use too.

@Greeny : I...know...you...want...it...

@Wolf : I know...I bet that 1.5k price is for companies which is ready to get their hands on this program, not us, who wants to use it for personal use.
Waiting for the price to go down c:

@Kensela : With the range from tiny nose anime style to bishounen style, I'm pretty sure it works with realistic character too!!!

@papillon : That's one of my concern too. Heard that you can save the movement in gift format.
Hopefully renpy will be able to support live2d in future!
