What's a CG?

#1 Post by Hudzon » Mon Jun 11, 2007 1:35 am

I know it's a bit of an odd question and I'd normally use the search feature, but searching for something that's only two letters long and comes up in every other post won't yield much of a result.

So... What does CG stand for?

It's short for computer graphic. It's a special picture that fills the screen.
script is 85% done.
Title is now "Running through water"
and will hopefully stay that way.
Need a poem/lyric?
I'll write one for ya!

It's indeed Computer Graphics - but it doesn't make that much sense in VNs, at least not for me.

In the visual novel universe, a CG means one single piece of special event picture (often it's also called an "event CG"). Normally, you have that typical combination of a background without people, and over that background character graphics (sprites) appear. So it's two elements. An event CG will have one graphic without having it split into background and characters.

In most cases, the event CGs are viewed under an angle.

CG for computer graphics.

Can be 2D or 3D.
