A workaround is to only search first posts, but then you are, well, only searching through first posts.

[Bug] Search function not working properly
Since (at least) a year the search function isn't working properly. One can let display results in threads or posts. While the latter is default, showing threads doesn't work at all, which is unusual for a phpBB-Board.
I get this error message:
