Well, I remember that in school days I spent a lot of time idling away - doing nothing. In the summer, I'd sleep until noon, and then we'd go to the city to hang out (read; walk and talk) with classmates, and then I watched TV. So if anything, I like it more now that I come home at six, take care of housework and have less time - the free time I have that are two-three hours before I go to sleep (my wife reads or plays something while I write and organize things) are really relaxing and fulfilling. And I can do this every single day, not just in the summer. And somehow I found that with nothing to do at all, it slows my creativity a lot - the most writer's blocks I got when I had a lot of time.
And actually, during our recent vacation in the Carribbean, we told ourselves the 16-or so days were just right. Any more and we'd get bored from doing nothing. And as for a worry-free summer, I found that when there are commitments like work or so, you really appreciate the freetime activity more. And perhaps it's just that you've had that schoolday life and now you're enjoying a different pace and priorities in life - and that's definitely something good - unless of course you're unhappy with your life.

Hmmm, this doesn't apply to me, to be honest - I'm much more physically fit than when I was at school, and I don't get tired that quickly. I somehow always think this is because me and my wife are the sporty types - not that we'd climb highest mountains, but somehow we are outside doing something "sporty" every day. And we've been doing it for ages, in fact a huge amount of ideas for games and anything written that I had I got when outside, riding my bicycle. Well, and of course in the shower. That's the classic.
On a related note, it really
is summer! And since we have a company shower where I can also change to more appropriate clothing, I can ride to work on my bicycle! It's so amazing and it makes all the difference in the world ^_^. I'm definitely a long way from killing myself.
So I thought I'd post something cheerful and happy, sue me.
