Trouble with Lemmasoft Forums

#1 Post by trooper6 »

Hi everyone,

I'm just writing because for the past two weeks or so, I've been having regular problems with the forums, and wanted to know if anyone else here did, too. Randomly, when I try to access LSF, I'll get server not responding errors and the website just won't load. 5 minutes later it'll be back up...but it is happening with some frequency.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know what might be going on?

Yeah, sometimes happens for me too. Seems to be some problem with the webspace we're on, though I'm not certain about this.

Happened to me at alarmingly low frequency. If these happen more often I could have at least figure out what is wrong, but these are so rare and short-lived that it is nearly impossible to know why they happen.

Yeah, I get this too on certain days. I'll try and load the website, or go back to the Board Index, and nothing will load. It's like my internet has temporarily gone out - but other websites load just fine. Like everyone else has said, the problem usually only lasts a few minutes, however, it seems to happen quite often some days and not at all on other days.

I can safely say that I have not encountered this problem. However, I will add on something that has been irritating me about this forum, and that's the "Log me in automatically each time I visit" function, and it doesn't seem to want to work half the time. Example, I'll log in on Sunday, I'll be fine all throughout Sunday, but when Monday comes around, even though I have checked the box, I have to input my information again.

As you can tell, I don't like trying to remember my stuff on forums that I don't regularly frequent.

Well, I must say LS is now behaving better than when I started visiting here, a year ago. By that time it was very annoying to click on the 'submit' button when posting only to discover the site had gone offline while I was typing. Since then we had some temporary problems like the Cloudflare pop-ups (http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 13&t=20095). Maybe another corrupted database?(http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 13&t=21379)

When this happens, can people try the alternative URL:

http://direct-lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/

That will help me figure out if it's a server or a cloudflare problem.

Hi there! Don't know if this will help but I got a small problem while trying to go on LSF, I took a screenshot:

Does this help you in any way? Because I don't understand anything at all ^^; (maybe it isn't even related...)

I got the same screenshot that Didules got once or twice, though mostly I just get an error message from my browser. The next time it happens, I'll try the direct link to see if that works.

More data! I have just run into the problem with the regular site, then I switched over to the direct site, and was able to dial in.

I think I figured out the cause of the 522 errors.

An upgrade reset the maximum number of php workers from 100 to 10, which means that it was fairly easy to overload PHP-FPM.

I've made the change and restarted PHP-FPM, and hopefully things will work a bit better now. If you do see cloudflare problems, please take a screenshot so I can get the technical information that will help me fix things.

EDIT: Or not. I'm experiencing the problem now. I have a bug in with cloudflare - if that doesn't resolve things, I'll move us somewhere else.

I am not experiencing any trouble on my end but PyTom would be the one to contact.

Strange, it seems like that after whatever fix that was made, suddenly now the forum tend to automatically log me off while I am crafting an essay in the Quick Reply box.

For the record, I'm still getting regular problems with the regular site, or as my browser likes to say: "Safari can't open the page 'http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/index.php' because the server where this page is located isn't responding.' It just doesn't seem to be working at all.

On the other hand the direct link is working...which is what I'm on now. However, the direct link no longer automatically keeps me logged in, even if I check that box.
