This is very minor but it annoys me, and I'm wondering if there is something on the computer that shouldn't be...
When I first log on and boot IM up, it says I have X new messages...except it's actually less than X...but if I log out of IM and then log back in, the *correct* email amount shows up. This appears to be just an annoying thing, but part of me is wondering if I have some kind of sleeper virus or some such. I run a virus check everyday so if there is a virus, it's not catching it. I check spyware periodically too..
Bottom line, is this just an annoying thing or is there something I can do to fix it?

Re: Annoying e-mail question
Oh, yeah, I probably should have mentioned WHICH IM I use.....MSN IM is the one that gives the false email number. (Don't use Yahoo IM) Note that when I click on the *mail* button, my browser has the correct number of incoming email. Just wondering why MSN IM is being doing this....

Re: Annoying e-mail question
There's a high chance that it's not a virus or spyware.
It's a MSN messenger bug, it occurs more frequently in its beta versions.
Not sure if the latest version fixes this problem, but try upgrading your IM.
