Lately the Kill la Kill soundtrack has been really inspirational to me lately.

I find myself listening to /a/ sings, a.k.a 4chan's animu board covering various anime songs.

I don't know why I can even write to such tones.

Basically, anything that matches my mood while I'm writing, or matches my character's mood in the story. =) Songs really help get me into the groove!

It's a good question. I'm interested to learn I'm not alone in mostly using soundscapes and ambient music to write while I work, though I'm also partial to enough metal to stay awake.

That changes a lot, but always OSTs.
Recently, I listen to Last Unicorn and Rewrite's OSTs a lot.
Hatsune Miku for a lighter tone.

OSTs are always a favorite of mine! Currently, I listen to Bastion's soundtrack. Love them jazzy tunes.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Eddy Kim songs when I work. I find them relaxing, or I'll listen to Dir en Grey when I feel like being a lot less relaxed and more intense. Depends on the mood I guess haha.

Lately both the Tokyo Ghoul soundtrack and the Persona 3 one! (The latter is Very Good for inspiration, I love every bit of it.)

Oh, I have been listening to a lot of P3P soundtrack last year, it suit the upbeat scene very much. For Tokyo Ghoul, I only heard the OP by TK. As a fan of TK myself, I think it's a good song but I prefer kalei de scope in his Fantasy Magic album more.

Anyway — there is a few playlists created by Max Kirin I addicted to since last year, mostly Childhood Friend and Haunted Mansion. Playlists by neonsyzygy on 8tracks is also very calming and atmospheric as well. Best one though, Stimulate Yourself by verabeara or any other mix by her is pretty great for writing or just chill.
