Bots are Online Users?
I was just curious, since I was looking at who was online and it appears there are no less than four bots. O.o Google, Yahoo, Bing, and one that looks like a username. Anyone know what's up with that? (They're all labeled [Bot], too...)

Bots, or "spiders" as we used to call them in the good 'ol days, are used to keep information updated in search engines, Google, Yahoo and Bing being the largest currently. The Majestic-12 is a fairly new bot, originating in the UK. Interestingly, the Majestic folks aim to produce the largest search engine in the world. I doubt Google has any immediate worries though.
Cheers.

I object to this! Bots coming in, slandering our good spider name!TheTraveler wrote:Bots, or "spiders" as we used to call them in the good 'ol days,
But, seriously, that's interesting. I never knew the purpose of bots before now so I'm glad you asked the question, Dai!
Quite possibly a spider.
