Upgraded to PhpBB 3.0 RC 5

#1 Post by PyTom »

I just finished upgrading the board to PhpBB 3.0 RC 5. This shouldn't affect any non-admin user, but if you notice anything failing, please let me know.

I noticed something. When I checked my PM folder, the PM's in the inbox indicate that "the message was removed(?) by the author before it was sent". Can this be a bug?

My involvement in a current project is on the line here.
Korina Sanchez: Ex-sensei Mel, we've met again.
Mel Tiangco: I'm expecting this from my former student.
Korina Sanchez: I know all along the reason for your presence.
Mel Tiangco: Of course. Your hairbrush.
Korina Sanchez: Snatch it again? Well, you're mistaken. It's because my hairbrush's container is packed with security features. What's your say?
Mel Tiangco: If you can do security... (pause) then 120% of my strength will shatter it!

That means your collaborator removed the message while it was still in the Outbox. He is probably planning to retype something.

Alright, the problem's already resolved. I saw the sender's PM and now it's smooth sailing.

Just noting I still get weird results when asking for "new posts". Either I get no results even though there *are* forums marked as "contains new posts" and they *do*... or I get old results I've already seen multiple times and I have to mark the forums as read to remove them.

Hmm, interesting. "View new posts" works fine for me (it's the way I normally browse the forums by default).
I released 3 VNs, many moons ago: Elven Relations (IntRenAiMo 2007), When I Rule The World (NaNoRenO 2005), and Cloud Fairy (the Cute Light & Fluffy Project, 2009).
More recently I designed the board game Steam Works (published in 2015), available from a local gaming store near you!

I think it has to do with sessions since it only happens (I think) when I check multiple times with only maybe 20 minutes between each check.

Have you tried logging out all the way, deleting all the forum cookies (using the link on the front page) and then logging back in again?

Will try that next time it messes up ^^

EDIT : ok, it was actually because I ignored a few threads. They didn't appear in "new posts" anymore but since I never read them, they did appear orange because there *were* unread posts within.

One rather irritating piece of behaviour I've started seeing recently, that I think may be related to this upgrade. I used to be able to leave myself permanently logged on to the forums, on both my home and my work computer. But now, when I browse the forums at home, it logs me off at work. It's rather vexing. Is there an option anywhere to disable that "auto-log-off"?

(At least it's not "Keep me logged in (for 2 weeks)" or "(for 3 days)", which far too many forums are using these days, and is very irritating also...)

I've flipped off IP validation, which was turned on. Are you using something to synchronize cookies between different browsers? That could cause it.

Thanks. I wasn't doing any cookie syncing, that I was aware of. I'll check when I get home tonight to see if that's fixed it. Thanks!
