Re: Summer Novel Festival - SuNoFes [July]
Hello, while May hasn't arrived yet.
I'm eager to share my thoughts for an upcoming event few months from now. What do you think?
Edit: I decided to stick with one month.

Re: Summer Novel Festival - SuNoFes [July]
No theme for the summer. When I first started the winter jam, I thought it might be different from NaNoRenO with a theme and time constraints. I'm glad there's participants willingly take a dive and completed the jam, there are some that wasn't able to make it whether it's incomplete or time limit. (Which is why I struggled by adding undue delays)Katta wrote:Won't this one have a theme like the winter one? Why?
After looking through the NaNo entries on itch.io, I'm surprised to see few works with no games but lines of development. If I were to list for historical purposes, I have to include it as is. (If I'm a jam host, I would remove them)
I acknowledge having a summer version without a theme can set a tradition without having a host. Especially having an easy schedule to follow. This is a necessity for someone who wasn't able to participate NaNoRenO, have incomplete works that would want to finish, or want to make a refined release for exposure. (Overall VN devs support)
There's one last variation which is inspired from winter one with two themes which is schedule around the end of the year. I'm not going to reveal it until the outcome of the summer. It requires of having a host and I would like to pass this one over to someone after my turn is finished.
In short- For once, I (we) need to recreate a tradition where it balances from NaNoRenO. I planned another VN jam with two themes around the end of the year.

Re: Summer Novel Festival - SuNoFes [July] [7 languages, sam
Sample page is available with 7 languages. [English, русский, español, Deutsch, français, Melayu, and Português (BR)]
Itch.io jam page will be prepared by June, first I need to get the resources sorted out.

Wonderful! I love the diversity in language to make it more accessible.

Hmm... Well personally I'm not one for restrictions and limitations. But I have to agree with Anne, having no strict rules just gives people an excuse to slack off, path of least resistance and all that jazz.
To BarabiSama, Nobody said you have to set unrealistic goals, but power without direction is chaos.
Now about the idea as a whole.
I do like that more people have an opportunity to show what they are capable of. Everybody loves a good competition after all.
But the lack of restrictions means no challenge factor, and the lack of reward means no incentive factor.
Further more, the more competitions there are, the less the people will care about each competition, and what happens within them.

Re: Summer Novel Festival - SuNoFes [July] [itch.io]
Great itch.io site! This looks like a great opportunity for me to finish my game. Since I have more free time during the summer, I'm hoping to use that to my advantage.
I regret one thing though: looking at the CC resources. They're a wonderful collection and of high quality, but it's so tempting to create a new game now. I'm hoping I don't get sidetracked yet!

Re: Summer Novel Festival [July] [itch.io] [11 languages]
I will most definitely be participating in this come July (which is coming up suuper fast, less than 7 days away)! I have a project that I've been putting off for a while now that I'd like to complete.
Will there be a thread or anything where people participating can chat/post progress/keep each other motivated?

The current chat would be #SuNoFes from twitter. I'm not aware of alternatives out there.sasquatchii wrote:Will there be a thread or anything where people participating can chat/post progress/keep each other motivated?
I think creating a thread in Creator Discussion would be appropriate. If anyone who wants to start one, please be my guest.
