Recommend a VN

#1 Post by Rinima » Fri Oct 24, 2014 4:34 pm

It's my birthday in two days, and I'm not expecting much for my birthday, so I want to treat myself with a new game.
Problem is, I have no idea what I should get XD
I can go up to £20 (GBP) and I kinda want to support someone off this forum is possible.

Any recommendations are good, but I prefer sci-fi, apocalyptic, or mystery.

(sorry if this is in the wrong place or not relevant to these forum, if it is, do what you must :) )

Jisei is a great mystery--it's about a teen who can read the last few moments of a murder victim's life by touching their corpse, and he solves a murder mystery at a small coffee shop. And that's just the first story in the series! If you enjoy it, I also recommend the other two in the series, Kansei and Yousei (though the basic murder mystery set up in each is different, they also follow an overall arching story arc, and contain spoilers for each other so I recommend following each in order: Jisei--Kansei--Yousei).

Date Warp (available here and here) is a romance with sci-fi elements to it. It's about a college student named Janet who goes on a date with Bradley, and they end up stranded in a mansion where...stuff happens.

If you're looking for something free, Locked-In is a neat artsy little title about a woman named Jacqueline Brown who's paralyzed in a car accident...or was it an accident? As she lies back and recalls her past, you must determine whom you can trust to help Jacqueline survive.

And then there's The Loop and The Madness, both of which are horror titles (The Loop's focus is on supernatural horror; The Madness is psychological horror). They both share similar plot elements, but take a different approach to these elements. Which one you find scarier might depend on what scares you more, but I personally find the latter to be scarier.

Thank you! I hadn't heard of Date Warp, it looks really good actually, so I think I'll go with that :)
Thank you again!

Very admirable that you're looking to support other members of this community :) I know that Analogue is highly regarded, although that's not from Lemma in my recollection. Dischan released Dysfunctional Systems, but it's pretty short. So I guess it depends?

I think the creator of Analogue use to be on this forum, but don't quote me on that :) I already have Dysfunctional Systems ^^ (it was awesome and I loved it)

EDIT:
I've now gotten what I want, but people please do use this thread if you have an requests ect for certain VN genres, you might find something interesting if people post back :)

Dunno if you played Analogue or not, but Digital: A Love Story is free, sci-fi and really good.

Hi! I'm not sure if you're aware of the game by VOLTAGE, it's called "In Your Arms Tonight"

It is for mobile devices, and the art is very good. The storyline is very engaging as well! I really loved the game, though you have to buy routes to unlock them for a small fee. If you have money to spare, it's worth it!

If you can stand gore, you can give Saya no Uta and Kara no Shoujo a try.

The former is rather simple in terms of choice bacause it has a few choices, while the latter is rather complicated because there are tons of choices and the chances of getting game over is very high.

You can also try out Swan Song.
