Funnily enough the only VN I remember feeling a distinct "message" from was Higurashi, that even though life can have horrible things happen you can get through it and find happiness by trusting friends.

Life lesson from a video game? That's a new low.
Somehow I feel that no one cares about signatures~

That's... a bit rude?

If you can have lessons in books or movies or television or any other sort of art, why not games, particularly rather book-like games?

Well, I don't know if I've ever gotten any life lessons from VNs. Mostly its been things I've come to in my own pondering, then after playing a game which brings that topic in the back of my mind up, I see a scene which sort of creates a more vivid affirmation from the scatter brained thoughts in my head. Like it nails everything together in a way where I could more accurately express it into my personal beliefs. Then of course you always run into writing that is more preachy. I guess there is a lesson to be garnered from that: "There is a difference between helping people and trying to make people just like you."

I've played some really good visual novels but none of them left any kind of moral or philosophical lasting impact on me. It's funny cause I use major themes that work like lessons in my own stuff... I'd like to find a game that can make me change though, sounds interesting.
I did nothing. And still I rise.
And still I rise.

Saya and The Walking Dead have, in their own way, taught me that there comes a point where you just really have to give up on a person.

Actually, yeah. Although I'm not sure if its a good or bad thing ^^" (I suppose it is lol)
So I was playing Togainu no Chi (don't judge me for it lol).
Anyway, the main character - he kind of resonated with me. Basically Akira is like this super cool dude who always isolates himself - ya know, the usual "cool" guy depicted in anime and visual novels - always isolating himself and all. But anyway, he ends up thinking about his actions and stuff.
*cough cough* So anyway, basically it made me think about a few stuff - like whether what I was doing was the right thing - like distancing myself and stuff like that.

(Sorry for the rambling.)
Bottom line is, I guess the life lesson is that "Always treasure the things that you hold dear - don't just simply let them go so passively (a.k.a take a more active role in life before you regret it)."
Ehhh not sure if that came across as right. Hahaha. Oh wells. ^^"

Don't mistake actual terrorists for people playing a survival game in the woods.

Katawa Shoujo and the Hanako route showed me that you can't attempt to 'fix' people. You can love them, stand by their sides, and offer all the support you can as they fix themselves.

I was pretty guilty of trying to fix people's issues by playing arm-chair therapist, so that was very eye-opening.
