I dunno, it seems like she'd be better than Ertai's Familiar, which is a 2/2 for 1B with phasing and a penalty attached. Otoh, she's worse than Merfolk Raiders, which is 2/3 for 1B with phasing and islandwalk (and no penalty).

I'd give Mary 2/2 and islandwalk... since really, islandwalk seems an important part of what she does. (And I feel stupid for forgetting it.)

a penalty? Do you realize that players are often willing to pay to get similar effects? (for obvious reasons) And I won't go into details of the potential this cute pet can show in a dredge, threshold, or flashback deck...

The standard cost for a vanilla 2/2 (a.k.a. a bear) is 2 mana. A 2/2 with phasing is strictly worse, so it should be cheaper. Since it costs more than it's really worth, a 2/2 phaser for 2 mana is overcosted, or underpowered. Otoh, there are some examples of undercosted bears.

...only to find that it doesn't fit at all well in the space left inside lordcloudx's frame without significant parts of the art being cut out (like, most of the Earth, and the ox and the lion entirely). :/
