Where do you go to stay up-to-date about new visual novels from Japan? Are there specific websites that splurt news, do you just look at the new entries on VNDB or do you visit the usual studios' websites for advertisements?

I used to read Dengeki Hime, but that magazine doesn't publish anymore.

is up to date with popular novels, on the other hand its very hard to find new novels without discovering them 2 or 4 years later.

Tumblr's #visual novel hastag and a bunch of VN-focused blogs on there.

I vaguely remember that every page had a download link to a torrent of that game (the translated versions). Or am I heavily mistaking and is my mind playing tricks on me?

Fuwanovel recently underwent a series of changes, I think.

They're trying to change the focus of the site and removed any and all illegal download links and are now focusing purely on the translation aspect of it, along with general VN news.

They still have patch links available, from the looks of it . . . so that's still rather problematic to me (though I readily admit I don't know the details about the legality of fan translations). But I'm glad Fuwanovel isn't supporting torrenting anymore, if what you're saying is accurate.
