Re: Visual Novel Translation World Record Attempt!

Well, might be here and there some minor typo, but I translated the script and the ui.

If any Hungarian speaker finds something let me know and I’ll fix it asap.

Special thanks to my two friends who helped with the translations and the spell checking.

As I already did the Russian localization of Re'Py, this was a nice little addition. I am going to include it in distributive.
(Translated The Question shipped with Ren'Py package)

A bit late, but will there be a catpeople version? One with nyadification inya every other word?

Thanks, everyone! I updated the first post and now we have 11+1 languages (default English + 11 more)

Looking for even more ^_^
I removed the "reserved" languages, since some of them are there for a long time - and it's better not to discourage others from translating into those languages.
I also put in a counter into the topic :)

Hm, it is sure a lot of work, but can you put in the first post links on posts containing files? That would be a great help for newcomers...

Why not google it?

Seriously, I don't know anyone outside the Henson company who would write Swedish (chef) by hand, but there are a large number of filters out there that can turn English text into a reasonable approximation of the Swedish chef.

Did anything come from this... attempt?
PyTom mentioned a "multi-lingo" version some time ago.

I was a bit surprised to not find German already done. According to Wikipedia German is the most spoken language in Europe. "Felix Gaijin" is not only one of the longest Ren'Py VNs I came across, yet, but has also voice acting.

I have also made a translation of the UI (for my game in progress). Is this supposed to go here as well, or into a different topic?

@mikey - Your location says: Austria. Kommst Du aus Österreich?

I live in Austria (which I also consider my home), but originally I'm Slovak. Well, actually I could have done the German translation, since to be honest my German is better than my English (though I prefer to communicate in English when writing), but I was hoping for some of the forum's native German speakers to do that. :P Actually, very much much in the Austrian spirit of "Schau ma mal, dann seh ma schon", not doing anything solves the problem eventually ^_^

An UI can go here I think if it's universally applicable - and I don't see why it shouldn't be the case, so...

Anyway, let's hope for even more translations - certainly the multi-national potential is here.

Na dann, hier die Menüs in deutsch.

I've been conversing so much in English in the last years, that sometimes I get tired of it, because as a German I just don't have the intuitive knowledge of the finer details of the English language. Even my g/fs are not German anymore T.T (My ex came from Italia, and now I am "with" one from the USoA o_o; Multi-national all the way =D One will have to be Japanese ~q: )

So my first Ren'Py Project will be in German.

Hm... if you're interested, I could do a Swiss-German translation. A beautiful language, which is spoken in Switzerland.
And hey, we even got our own wikipedia-localization. :D

Any translation is welcome - although due to its nature as a sort of a dialect or unofficial way of writing, I would put the Swiss-German version into the "fun" section - well "fun" is probably not the best name for that section - maybe I'll rename it to "extra", but still. Come to think of it, the Austrian-German would also be a good candidate ^_^.

One interesting point - I would be inclined to have British English alongside US English as a separate "language" in the official section, likewise, I'd probably also say that proper Austrian-German, which sometimes uses different words to German-German could also qualify as an extra language - as long as it's official. But then, I would still count all the German versions as one language, as not to artificially increase the languages count.

I've uploaded a collected zip with everyone's translations, for easy archiving.
Status 2008-07-17 (12+1 languages) and (11 extra)
