Py - for Python, a language I was (and still am) very interested in.
Tom - my first name.
Okay, that's boring. Let's go into the names of the various characters I created.
Eileen and Lucy were first created for a game in which angel and devil characters came to live with the player, posing as transfer students:
- Eileen is apparently Irish for Light. I have some Irish ancestry (3/8ths, the largest single share), and I had been listening to
The Irish Volunteer when I created her, and so it was an obvious choice. (If she was Japanese, she'd be Hikari or Akari.)
- Lucy is short for Lucifer (which also means light-bringer, but that wasn't the connotation I was going for).
To come up with the character name for Moonlight Walks, I looked through records from the (1790?) census for, IIRC, the outer banks. Mary was one of the few names of female heads of household. IIRC, Harper was the name of a different family, but it seemed like a decent one. There's something of a Pern reference there as well, but it wasn't a major consideration.
