I remember my grandfather (god rest his soul) telling me stories of his time during WWII. He was once explaining how the he and his men where so poorly equipped in battle. He took a slice of bread from me, held it sideways and told me:
"This was how thick the armour was on the tanks we rode in, but the Germans armour was so thick and tough! It was scary."
He also told me of the time the ship he was on got hit. As he found himself floating in the sea, sure that he was about to die, the only thing on his mind was regret:
"I'm floating there and I can see the ship sinking. The only thing I could think of was why did I not grab more ham sandwiches!"
Miss you granddad.

In the USA November 11 is Veterans Day. To those who served in the Armed Forces, thank you.
