Udemy Course on Ren'Py
Would anyone be interested if I made a course on Udemy for Ren'Py? If so, what topics should I cover?
I find that I learn best by teaching others. While hoping to improve my knowledge I stumbled upon Udemy and got to thinking about making a course on it. Of course, I'm not really in it for the big bucks, so I'd try to make it as cheap as possible. (Is there a way to give it out for free, I wonder?)
I've held successful panels on visual novels before so I think this could be an interesting spin on my experience. I thought I'd drop by here to get input on if anyone would be interested, as well as what sort of topics I should cover.
Thanks for reading!

Re: Udemy Course on Ren'Py
well you got to look at it from a new user side, we always direct users to this website: http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/index.html
google can translate the english text and many users outside the community made videos. Any help they need is free by posting a thread in the questions & answers or by searching.
why would paying someone to watch a video/powerpoint be better than a free youtube video?
The most up to date document is this one with python included for free: https://www.scribd.com/doc/53117347/130/UI-Functions
So why pay for learning python if google can help you find one free?
Lastly how will Udemy be better if codecademy is interaction and Udemy is about videos?

Re: Udemy Course on Ren'Py
Some people have different learning styles, so while reading that website might be helpful to some, it isn't to others.
As I said in my post, I'd prefer it if I didn't have people pay--and I just found out that you can offer FREE courses on Udemy, so I will likely go that route.
I could possibly team up with codeacademy if they have that option and people want interactive lessons. Besides, Udemy uses video, PDF, and a variety of other ways of delivering content to students.
Anyway, if someone wanted to pay for lessons, I think they have that right. Not everything you find on google is correct, and even if it is, sometimes people have difficultly learning from it. It's like asking why people go to college when the information could be out there on the internet.
My goal is to make comprehensive lessons that people can follow along with at their own pace. I know I would have wanted that when I learned Ren'Py. So maybe someone else will want it as well.

Re: Udemy Course on Ren'Py
If I have the time for it, I might be up for it! Renpy can be a bit tough at times, and sometimes, even the documentation that attempts to explain it can fly over my head. Having it explained according to my individual learning style might help. You could have, if you're planning for a weekly lesson plan, cover a few different bases such as resizing images or converting audio files to new formats and such. One week could be about art, the next about music, etc. Start out with basic, simpler aspects, then build up to discussing the more complicated angles.

Re: Udemy Course on Ren'Py
If you can give your own take on the subject, and a personal treatment, I don't see why not making it (and if you offer it for free, well damn! Nobody can complain!!). The wikis are good, but watching is usually more effective than reading plain text, and if you have experience on VN-related panels, I'll assume you know how to communicate your ideas well.
Si, it's a win-win for everyone who wants to learn. Go ahead!

Re: Udemy Course on Ren'Py
Just popping in to say I would probably use it. The Documentation (mostly apart from the bare basics) go right over my head, and the large majority of videos on it on YT aren't really, how should I put this nicely, very good.

Re: Udemy Course on Ren'Py
It's been a while since anybody posted in here, but I wanted to pop by and say I'd love it if you did this, and if you really are going for it you should keep us updated! The documentation isn't bad, but sometimes I need a little more help, and I'd feel much better listening to the words of a regular here than some random person on Youtube
Actually, since it's been a little bit, have you gone anywhere with this yet or made any plans?

Re: Udemy Course on Ren'Py
Morhighan, please include some basic programming (fundamentals) like variables and stuff because it seems some people just jump into Ren'Py without knowing anything at all, and some of these people are slow-learners.
