I'm thinking of solo-ing this event, but that's just my thought, lol. Too much projects at hand right now. ^^;

Edit: Welp, I join but in team, which should be more effective than working alone. :D

What about yourself, Lesleigh? :3c
I signed up with Windchimes and Kumiho to be their bg artist for 'Lads in Distress'.

It's going to be a blast (I haven't done art for other people before or worked with a group - so exciting).

KiloTango wrote:Are there any rules on how far you're allowed to go with music before the start date? I'm soloing but want to score it myself. I was kinda tempted to make music before because I'm losing a couple of weekends in March and so many people just use CC stuff anyway, but reading this that doesn't seem to fit in the rules. Would figuring out leifmotifs etc be ok as long as they're not in arrangements?
I don't know much about the rules myself - but you could always include something that was made before March in a post-release. [No idea how much time is supposed to elapse between a nano-release and a post-release though]

The 2006 rules mentioned music composition...
****What is ALLOWED Before the Month****
~ concept sketches, doodles
~ brief script outline or ideas such as synopsis
~ taking or looking for possible background pictures
~ non-game related programming or testing such as figuring out how an engine works is permissable
~ music composition roughs or looking for possible music to use in your game
and I don't know if it's worth resurrecting, but there was a second type of challenge back in 2006 that may appeal to some users today...
Not willing to limit participants to just the NaNoRenO challenge, IntRenAiMo was conceived to promote ren'ai developers to finish their projects and get new developer's into making their own ren'ai game. IntRenaiMo is a great alternative for those who have busy schedules and cannot make the NaNoRenO challenge. With IntRenAiMo, developer's may start their projects at any time but must aim for the March 31st deadline, coinciding with NaNoRenO.

Edited the initial post.

Started up the general recruitment thread.
Asked for some post-mortems and advice from those who have done Nanoreno before (looking at you Auro).

Thanks for resurrecting my recruiting guidelines post for this year <3
Kitty and I will just finish an old demo this year instead of making a new game from scratch, We'll do our best >o< (edit: we'll basically be doing IntRenAiMo instead of NaNo)

Good luck to everybody NaNo-ing! :D

What does "Sketches of sprite poses, backgrounds and CGs is NOT okay." mean? Sorry, I'm just new here, so... please bare with my questions.

I suspect that a 'concept' sketch or doodle to define how a character will look is okay but nothing else.
If worse comes to worse, and you want to start earlier - go for the second option of NanoReno.

I said I wasn't going to participate this year but I know it'll be a lie. XD I've already sewn the seeds of a story idea...
Lessons learnt from my overly ambitious first attempt last year though, especially regarding SCOPE...

Just a heads up for everyone that I've put up the NaNoRenO 2016 game jam page on itch.io!

Auro and I are participating this year, as well. <3

I'm going to solo nano again and try to make an even weirder game than last year!! I say solo but I think a friend will make some music for it :)

I'm really excited to get started and follow everyone's progress - and of course check out the games when they are finished!!
