I would love to contribute to cover art! Or anything art related. This sounds like a fun idea!

This looks very interesting! I am definitely supporting this and would read it! (Though I'm not sure if I can contribute since I'm quite busy myself too ;;)

This sounds really interesting! I would be happy to help out if you need the help, but I probably won't be free until summer, so not for the first issue, I'm afraid!

Good luck! I'll be looking forward to this :D

Since there's been such a positive response, I wanted to open this thread up to accepting submissions for articles and content for the zine.

So far I have the following lined up:

Introduction to the zine/Forward - Mystery Corgi
An Introduction to Visual Novels - Mystery Corgi
Developer Interview - Kkoro
NanoReno Coverage - paradigmshifty
=TOP SECRET= - Dreamgazer

But I'd also like to include the following:
-Featured VN
-Short Stories
-Featured Art
-"Kinetic Corner" aka Suggested KNs
-New Releases
-Game Jam Feature (SuNoFes for this issue?)
-Engine Comparison Segment
-Tip of the Quarter
-Common Features
-Polls
-Cover Art (Front)
-Cover Art (Back)
-Various Art to sprinkle into the pages
-Anything else you can think of!

If you want to participate, PM me!

Oooh this sounds really fun! :D
I was only thinking of something like this a few weeks ago during Nanoreno, we're such a tight but powerful little community. We'd be mad NOT to go ahead with something like this. Expect a PM from me. ;)

Anyone is free to mention SuNoFes anywhere else. I would like to point out that the festival allows cross entry projects. If there's a work in progress that's submitted from another game jam, creators can submit their game to SuNoFes.

I sent a PM regarding to Visual Novel Tips. Looking forward how the zine turns out!

I like the idea! (But I can't contribute, I can't write in correct English :( )
There are many interesting threads here in the forum (for example, in "Creator Discussion") that could inspire interesting articles.

In some scholar journals there is a list, at the end, of "books received", that were sent to the journal to be reviewed. If the journal editors consider there are worth, they do a review, if not, the review is not done, but at least the title of the book gets published the first time. The zine could have also a similar list, not as "recommended" yet, but simply "this VN exists".

A nuts and bolts question: If we write submissions, would you prefer PDF submissions of a standard page size? What is your preference?

Also, keep us updated if you decide on any potential release dates. And if we run a poll, I'd suggest asking a mod to temporarily "sticky" the link thread to keep it at the top for two weeks or so, if they are willing - being that it is a free project and all, not paid (they might help us out!)

EDIT: I should ask, are you piecing together pdf submissions, or plain text? If we make it look nice, like a page of polls, do you want them as a PDF? Or just plain data so that you can squeeze the polls in on the sides of pages, etc?

I'll also be sending a PM your way. :)

This sounds like an awesome idea! I'd love to contribute if I can-- either through a short story, article, or possibly with putting the zine together (I work as an ebook formatter). I'll be sending you a PM shortly! :)

Can we get a status update on this from the organizer(s)?

I was thinking of submitting something along the lines of tips for setting up art assets for newbies to VN art, but I'd like to see where this project is before I put something together.

It would also be nice if some submission guidelines were available such as:
- page/image dimensions and dpi for people wanting to submit art
- format for submitting articles, and how to send them (ex. PM the organizer a link to a download or google doc? Is it okay if the submitter does their own typesetting and submits a pdf file?)

And for me personally, I think it would be good to have a submission deadline... I'd love to take part in this but it's a little hard with no guidelines and having projects/other work/irl/etc. A deadline just makes it easier to plan what kind of submission I'll have time to make or if it's possible for me at all with my current schedule.

Hi there!
Things are going well, we've got a cover and several artists on board for internal art. We also have a good chunk of articles written!
I have a google drive that I'm directing people towards, preferably in doc form so I can do the typesetting and all that.

As for the deadline, mid-June is what I'm aiming for (so soon! O_O) because I want to be able to put everything together in time for July.

Thanks for your questions!
