Good writing and believable characters! I'm not talking about expertly crafted "this character is planned out to the miniscule detail of how they tie their shoes" (though I do lover character trivia, aside) but characters with clear-cut motivations and flawed personalities. I hesitate to say well-rounded because there's a lot of character archetypes you can consider as such; what I mean by "flawed" is if say, a character ends up being hypocritical of themselves, or is overly emotional and strains some relationships with it, or a character who is two-faced to even their best friends, etc. Having these nuances in character personality makes me love them more, even if I find some traits personally annoying!

I guess "good writing" is highly subjective because I'll read anything that isn't too technical or lifeless :/a
