Problem With Norton Antivirus when loading Ren'py
*NOTE: I've used Ren'Py before, there's not a problem with it, and I'm fully aware it's a safe file that can be trusted as a program. How ever, I ran into a wierd error when I was downloading the latest version today. My antivirus kept trying to remove it because it kept bringing up a false positive on the download containing a virus. I just thought it might be important to let the Ren'py developers know, that somehow norton antivirus mistakes the file package for a virus. I'm not sure why it does it, but all you need to do, if it does, add an exception to your antivirus to even unzip the package. Then you can use Ren'py like usual.

Did you take a note of what virus has infected your files?
My AVG also sometimes gives false positive to certain games made with Renpy.

Yes, I noted what it was.
Also, It wasn't infected from sitting on my computer. I just had literally downloaded the .zip package from the renpy.org today, and it reported it from Norton when the download first finished. It kept removing it at first from my recent downloads into quarantined files because of it. I had to add an exception and remove it from quarantine in order to unzip ren'py.

I'd suggest reporting this as a false positive to Norton. Norton is notorious for reporting files it doesn't understand as viruses, simply because it hasn't seen them before. I'm not sure if there is anything I can do about that.

Are you downloading software from Norton website? If you do you should send them information about this error, if you downloading Norton software from dodgy website you should be careful of trojan, bugs and other viruses.

It was directly from Norton, but thanks for the warning. And I let them know about the error.MangaFan wrote:Are you downloading software from Norton website?
