Nominations send

Long haired guy: 3000, aren't you bit off (I can read 1000 in his post count or didja mean something else?)? And don't bribe judges (or organizators)!

That's true, I voted (nominated) and I want to see how it ended up! ^_^ I actually root for all the games I nominated now - hopefully they are all in the voting round...
It would also be interesting to know how many people participated in the nominations.

Ah... I really wanted to take part, but too many things got in my way (wanted to play through a few more games before I nominated).

Oh well. I'm looking forward to the results as well :)

It looks like 11 people PMed nominations. I was hoping for more  (edit: make that 12, I should nominate some too ^_^; )

So it's looking like if you nominated something, it will probably be up for the vote, so I guess that's not such a bad thing :)

Let's hope more people do the final vote! I'll be posting the voting page soon

Btw, if anyone sees this and would like to nominate games still, just PM me before the voting page goes up and I'll count it!

Well, thanks for sharing the numbers. The honesty is appreciated :) Maybe in the future there can be a longer pre-discussion about the whole system, categories and so on, so that it is easier to nominate and also less vague in many cases - if nominations are necessary at all. Anyway, that's not the point now...
So it's looking like if you nominated something, it will probably be up for the vote, so I guess that's not such a bad thing
That is an excellent thing, especially as I was almost content with the fact that at least one of my nominations would have litle chance of getting to the voting round.
Btw, if anyone sees this and would like to nominate games still, just PM me before the voting page goes up and I'll count it!
Ugh, but if this has to be done, to be fair, don't let the already "nominated" games be pushed out by the additional nominations. If Ripples is there now and it won't be later...

Anyway, looking forward to how this all ends. I know I'm a bit critical about the whole awards thing, but on the other hand, I think it can be made into a useful tradition, if of course it's all based on criteria and values which make sense for the community, especially if it's transparent how and why games are judged by which criteria.

I think the people who nominated should be honored for their hard work. I was going to nominate some, but I didn't actually play all the games, so I felt a little unworthy to do so. But when the nominations are up, that'll be a smaller pool for me to draw from, so then I can play all of those and vote. In other words, I didn't nominate, but I'll definitely vote.

I second the bump... I mean what was the whole point of this exercise unless it pushes through? (If we're going to attempt to pat ourselves on the back, might as well get it over with). :?

(maybe the organizer is just busy with real life...)

If I'm honest, this long wait has made me disappointed and demotivated. I shouldn't have to ask or nudge for updates or results or what's going on, particularly in the context of awards - the organizers should be (and feel) responsible for that. I'm sorry to have to say this, but it's just basic politeness towards the people who participated.

Huh. I thought Lemma posted it up already. I'll go and bug him when I see him next.

Re: The 2008 Lemmy Visual Novel Awards - Vote Now!

#74 Post by Blue Lemma » Wed Feb 04, 2009 12:27 am

Actually, I've had the voting page ready to go for a while (PyTom can attest to that!) It's just that there were a bunch of games with one nomination that were in a tie for 4th in different categories. I wanted to have 4 games for each category, so the ties presented a problem. I was playing games so I could use my noms to break the ties, but my thesis work, etc etc crept in and everything took too long. So judging by the sentiment of the community, I think it's time for me to just post the nominees that are all decided on and have 2+ noms ^_^; We'll go with those and call it good

Thanks for your patience and please vote! I promise the results will be up within a few days of the final voting ^^ I'll start creating the page early so I can just fill it in :)

just wanted to do a thorough job but took too long ;_; sorry everyone!

Something I ran into again that makes me twitch :
and people new to the English doujin visual novel world some leads on which games represent the best of the community.
Shouldn't we retroactively celebrate the Lemmy's for previous years too then? The best is usually scattered across years :)

(and expert members get 35 points VS 10 for regular members? o_O...)
