Flashget error?
I don't know enough about download managers, maybe this is normal, but it SEEMS odd to me, like maybe it's an error...
After my computer crashed, Flashget saved my hide, I was downloading a 350 MB update (SP2) that took 24 hours, and it disconnected 3 times...thank heavens that it started back up when I reconnected! But lately...something appears to be wrong. As I get closer to finishing something - ANYTHING, it doesn't matter if it's a 150 KB download, a 10 MB download, a 50 MB download - it slows WAY down, almost stopping, if not stopping altogether. To a minor degree I can manipulate this - stopping the download and then restarting will work, but that gets annoying when I need to do that 10 times in a row!
Does anyone else use download managers? Is this normal? If it is NOT how do I fix it? Will updating Flashget solve this issue? It's getting REALLY annoying coming very close to having a download finish and then stop.

On all of the sites I run, I block download managers that make more than one connection to the web site. (Actually, I block ones that make more than 4.)

Re: Flashget error?
Yeah, I also get errors when using FlashGet. Do you use newest version of FlashGet? My errors was the FlashGet database always messed up once in a while (means I lost all the link and downloaded data although the files are safe). And after a while, I can't use FlashGet at all. The solution is just re-install the FlashGet... but the problem will coming back after several weeks.
I get rid of the problem by installing older version of FlashGet. Although not as fancy as a newer one, older version of FlashGet is more stable and I get not a single errors from it until now.

Re: Flashget error?
It certainly can. But I don't like the idea of people hammering the server with 20, 25 requests over the course of a couple of seconds, and taking bandwidth away from the guy who is only using 1 connection.Enerccio wrote:server should be able to to hold that

Re: Flashget error?
Maybe a connection issue then? (Thank you Pytom, for letting me know about that!) It that's the case...how do I fix flashget so that it doesn't bombard the server with a bunch of requests? (I have seen as many as 22 requests...at least, THINK that is what the 22/5 means...22 connnections to the website?)
OR, do I follow Luver's lead, and go to an earlier version of flashget?

I don't think you could fix it since that I think is how it accelerates download. If you don't want to bombard the server with a bunch of requests, then just don't activate it (I think).musical74 wrote:how do I fix flashget so that it doesn't bombard the server with a bunch of requests?
I suspect somebody is stealing my internet identity so don't believe everything I tell you via messages. I don't post or send messages anymore so don't believe anything I tell you via messages or posts.
