Clarify Ren'Py Questions and Announcements is the Help Section

#1 Post by verysunshine »

I've noticed there are many times where people (usually newbies) will post questions asking for help on many different boards. There's nothing in the title or description of "Questions and Announcements" to indicate this is the board where you ask for help. The red "Forum rules" banner pops up, but a little extra bit of clarity could help direct people to the right place.

Build the basics first, then add all the fun bits.

If I had a question ... I would go to the board titled Questions ... don't know about other people.

Directly below the link, the subthread descriptor states:
Discuss how to use the Ren'Py engine to create visual novels and story-based games. New releases are announced in this section.

'How do I do this' usually makes sense to ask where it says 'how to use this'

I'm not sure what else could be used.

I wasn’t confused as a newbie where I should post questions about Ren’Py. The Ren’Py Questions thread. I’d also note that there is more than one place to ask questions. If I had a question about writing, I’d ask in the writing thread. If I had a question about art, I’d ask in the Art thread. IfnInhad a general creator question, I’d ask in the Creator thread.

All of this seems pretty clear if you spend a bit of time reading the boards before you post...which is always a great of idea, since your question may already have been answered.
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?)

I guess I somehow interpreted "discussing this" to be different from "ask questions about this." My bad.

Build the basics first, then add all the fun bits.
